Guest guest
I recently received a phone call from a potential patient. She is a 53 year-old woman who has been experiencing MS-like symptoms for the past 5ish years. She claims that the symptoms came about from the presence of mercury in her dental fillings. She has since had her fillings removed, but the symptoms have not disappeared. Her main symptom is very tired/weak legs and lower body. Her symptoms have been mostly steady or slightly improved since she got her fillings removed. She asked me if acupuncture could help improve her symptoms. Her concern is that she was treated with homeopathy, and she claims that is stirred up some of the dormant mercury in her body, thus exacerbating the symptoms and making them notably worse. I have never treated a patient with MS-like symptoms from the mercury toxicity. Acupuncture is designed to free the flow of qi and blood in the body. Can it, too, stir up dormant mercury and cause her symptoms to worsen? Is anyone familiar with this type of case and can give me some advice? Thanks, Kelly
