Guest guest
Id welcome info from personal experience about this :. a friend with liver cancer is considering acupuncture treatment to help alleviate the side effects she is having from nexavar -fairly severe swelling and blistering of hands and feet. Does anyone here have direct experience with this? What are the cautions in treating a person with cancer and on such meds? is there reasonable hope for relief of symptoms, or is that not an appropriate aim here (if anyone has treated such a case, it would be great to hear your thinking as far as how you approached it, too) . She generally feels pretty well and is generally strong in mind body and spirit; this last discomfort has been hard to bear, however. Thank you, for any info and insight! **************************************See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004)
Guest guest
Early in my practice, I had a patient who went on a very potent mixed drug protocol for Hepatitis C (I think it was interferon and ribavirin, but I'm not sure). She had an extreme reaction that her doctor said was a short-term allergic response that would be relieved with Benadryl, but Bendaryl did not help at all. It was a full-body, itchy, oozy, swollen, deep red rash. I treated her for this with acupuncture alone - the only points I recall using were SP-10, LI-11, LI-4 and LIV-3 (I'm sure I also added others that I don't recall). After 45 minutes' retention time, she and I were both amazed that there was absolutely no trace of the rash anywhere, except in the places she had scratched and were scabbed over. The redness, swelling, oozing and itching were all gone! Furthermore, the rash never returned. This lady was also a breast cancer survivor with a history of addiction to harsh drugs, so I always thought her healing ability was miraculous. This is one of my favorite stories about the power of acupuncture to relieve the side effects of prescription meds. It was also a big confidence-booster when I was just starting as a practitioner, and taught me alot about the power of acupuncture. By all means, encourage your friend to have acupuncture. A good herbalist can also recommend topical herbal use to help her hands and feet heal. Guest guest
Dear Elaebanna, If this is not your first name, please sign your posts so we can know who you are. Sorry for the lapse in response, I was away for a few days. I don't have my texts at home, where my computer is, but I seem to remember choosing Sp-10 to clear heat in the blood, to treat her rash. being924 <Elaebanna wrote: Andrea, thanks!
