Guest guest
The red apple doesn;t fall far from the tree. While we hear from the some that letting Chinese medicine just SEEP into western culture is the best........we lose ground as a profession and those untrained gain position. This is not turf war in the sense of two equals arguing. Not that we all of us care about insurance reimbursement for our work.....but the status quo has just dropped in Florida. Licensed Acupuncturists were always reimbursed for their work in Personal Injury Protection (PIP) in automobile accidents. NOW that has gone bye-bye. Like the workers compensation, APs need a prescription from an MD, DO or a DC. The handwriting is on the wall and the field is continually being smothered in the ether by those who propagandize a " do nothing " attitude. Maybe we should take a hard look at the Communist Manifesto and make a comparison? Richard In a message dated 10/12/2007 12:52:28 P.M. The comparison to accepted medical procedures performed by non-specialists is not accurate, simply because acupuncture is NOT an accepted procedure. If we allow it to be performed in a way that ensures a lower chance of success (i.e. by amateurs), then this will hurt acupuncture'this will hurt acupuncture'<WBR>s acceptance into Perhaps once acupuncture has become accepted as actually efficacious for all the conditions for which we employ it successfully in our own clinics, THEN we can allow it to become more diffuse in the healthcare world because people will not confuse incompetence with lack of efficacy across the board for the procedure itself. But right now, we aren't even close to being there. -Ben Hawes, L.Ac. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
