Korean hand ac

I don't really have much info on it. There were two systems that I have seen for

a homunculus on the hand, one where the thumb=head and another with middle

finger = head. I use both palpating for the largest tender area and then using 1

needle. The examples in the workbook we had showed generally as many as 10

needles at each correspondence area. The palmar surface always represents the

ventral body. Many of the hand points from Tan's system line up with one or the

other of these correspondence systems. There is also a more elaborate system for

channel analogs on the hand that corresponds to the homunculus of middle

finger=head, where each channel and point is mapped only the hand and fingers...

The two progenitors of these styles of acupuncture are Jae Woo Park and Tae Woo

Yoo. Park was a student of Yoo's and thought there were discrepancies in his

system, and he came up with a competing system. There's a couple of very

expensive books floating around regarding this stuff which are large works by

Park, and a couple of consumer level books you can find by searching his name on

amazon. He is still active and his material is being published in English, so it

shouldn't be too hard to find something if you're interested. Both systems have

emerged in the last thirty to forty years, though I think there are various

progenitor systems that have been around much longer. I believe that it is

Park's system that uses the thumb = head, as well as big toe = head on the foot.

The hand needle injectors are fabulous. OMS sells them for under $5 each and the

needles are quite reasonable (2-3$ per hundred). They are also great for ear

acupuncture as you can forego the whole " find the point and angle, fumble for

needle loose point and angle " routine, just palpate with the tip of the tool and

then pop the needle in when you get the location and angle just right. It has a

tighter bore then guidetubes, so placement is very accurate and they're all

metal and clean easily, and should be analogous to reusable metal guidetubes in

terms of clean field practice.

In Su Jok the head is projected on the thumb, and not on middle finger- in KHA

it is on the mid finger. Respectfully. A.Zide L.Ac.
