Guest guest
I'm going over a scabies tx rec from the derm of tcm (the big yellow derm book), and have a question about the directions: bath with hot water and soap. apply Liu Huang Ruan Gao ointment (5-10% lui huang, 90-95% vasoline) all over body, below the neck, once in am & once in pm. do not bath or change clothes until 4th day. disinfest clothes and sheets in laundry. repeat tx after 2 weeks if itching persists or scabies mites are found. most patients are cured after one or 2 tx. i'm a little unclear: day one: bath then apply ointment am and evening. leave clothes on for 4 days. wait additional 10 days for results. if evidence of scabies persists, repeat. not sure if i can convince a modern american patient not to bath or change clothes for 4 days. or, does the ointment get re-applied am/pm for 2 weeks? re-check for evidence of scabies, and continue if neccesary. i'd appreciate any thoughts on this. thanks, kath -- Kath Bartlett, LAc, MS, BA UCLA Oriental Medicine Experienced, Dedicated, Effective Asheville Center For 70 Woodfin Place, Suite West Wing Two Asheville, NC 28801 828.258.2777 kbartlett www.AcupunctureAsheville.com

Guest guest
If I would have scabies I think I would go to a dermatologist and get a cream- normally scabies is gone after one application of the cream. When that would fail I would go back to herbs. I have never treated a case of scabies but this is what I would probably tell such a patient.
