Guest guest
I guess a lot of the point many would like to make is about how OM folks seem to be the only ones who are trying to be ethical here. MD's, DO's, and DC's are " doctors " who do acupuncture with 50 hours or more of training and with no training necessary in herbal medicine, nor does anyone have any requirements for herbal medicine. Meanwhile, we have a Master's degree that is closer to a doctorate than a Master's in most fields, and lots of folks who have had to round out their own education to practice safely and effectively while the colleges figured out what it is we need to do so. Sure, a legislated title is different from a degree, but it does level the playing field when a doctorate is required to practice in a state and allows for that legislation to go thru. Is someone with a new doctorate better clinically that a person with 20+ years experience, as a generality? In actuality, they should be close if colleges do their job in development of a first professional doctoral standard. Now. Will a college hire a legislated doctor title holder to teach at the doctorate level? No. Hopefully, this will provide some thought provoking discussion. If you let someone do so, he or she will be engaging in an unsuitable action and accumulating bad karma that will harm the person in the future. Thus it is permissable, with an altruistic motivation, to take counteraction in order to prevent the other person from having to undergo the effects of this wrong action.
