Guest guest
Thank you all for the thoughtful discussion. I am a student still; Ive so far been exposed to no information about pain relief through acupuncture, or not by that name (pain does resolve through treatment often of course!) I have an elderly Aunt who really suffered from aftermath of meds used post surgery and Id love to know what could have helped her. is the specific teaching on this, or is it a matter of , follow the very particular sx of each patient? again thanks! Guest guest
Dear Anna, In Chinese medicine pain is equated with blockage qi and blood. The texts refer to these as qi stagnation, where the pain comes and goes, moves, and changes forms, and blood stasis, where the pain is fixed, intense and sharp. There are many other variations as well, based upon other contributing factors such as vacuity (which as more accurate than the commonly used term deficiency), heat, cold, or damp, for example. Our goal must be to determine where the pain is, what elements are involved in it, and how the " blocked " pathway or organ manifests and interacts with other channels and organs. Then we get to work! I too, had a wonderful aunt, who suffered from excruciating pain, and died 30 years ago from mismanagement, ignorance and " heroic " intervention in the Western medical setting. That is one of the reasons I decided to do what I do. Yes, much can be done, and it all begins from understanding the interconnectivity of the body, and honoring it in order to help it become balanced. Good luck in your studies, Yehuda Frischman, L.Ac, CST,SER Elaebanna wrote: Thank you all for the thoughtful discussion.
