Guest guest
Hello everyone, I could use some help treating my male patient who has cluster headaches, anyone treated anyone for specifically cluster headaches? which are different from migraines. My patient is 56 year old male, smokes 1 pack a day (something he would like to work on quitting)? Tongue:? all over purplish, semi dry, scallops, lots horizontal cracks, small vertical crack in tip but doesnt extend to end of tounge (is this still considered heart area or more of lung area of tongue??)? Pulse:? full and push usually on heart/small intestine and liver/gallbladder pulses and sometimes additionally on lung/large intestine and spleen/stomach pulses.? Headaches:? occur behind the left eye (always and only on left side of face) as dull when first start and always progress to extremely sharp stabbing intense and severe pain which behind eye and can travel out toward temple and sometimes to tooth pain.? My patient describes it like a nail coming from inside his eye outward.? Usually occur about 9 pm, feels slightly better when he moves around and worse when he lays still.?Also is helpful to eliminate light when haveing attack.? ?Oxygen tank brings quick relief but will almost always get a second attack if uses oxygen, if uses his very expensive nasal spray (zomig)then it will go away completlely.? He is having an attack every night and the meds are $35 a use.??? Headaches are not weather related, although he does think a cool rag may help temporarily alleviate some pain, nothing else seems to help but his medications, that his doctor has to keep increasing the dosage on.? Bowels are normal, Urine is normal, Sleep is fine except for if he gets one while he is sleeping.? After a headache he feels exhausted and the next day (which is almost every day) he feels very fatigued, not drowsy but physically weak.? He also has bad essential tremors in both of his hands and peripheral neuralgia in his feet (numbness, tingling in front half of both feet). He is frequently thirsty for very cold drinks, and has some excess sweating, high blood pressure (under control with meds) a hiatal hernia which he says is under control with meds as well.? Any thoughts or suggestions on acupuncture would be appreciated, I do not practice chinese herbs so I am unable to use any herbal suggestions. thanks ?Beth Grubb Licensed Acupuncturist www.bethgrubb.com beth 410-591-2644 dr_namnguyen58 <dr_namnguyen58 Chinese Medicine Fri, 17 Aug 2007 9:35 am Re: Treating adolecents/minors Hi Jean, This is how I conduct a business. I do not see why their parents can not be present with them all the time during the history taken or the treatment. For our safety someone must always be there with a child besides us.
