I am a bit behind on my TCM digests! I agree with everyone about

sending this patient ASAP to MD for immediate urinalsis--esp with

blood now in the urine, yipes! Any fever?

However, always keep interstitial cystitis in the back of your

mind. It presents like a UTI, but after a urinalysis will come back

clean. So with UTI sx but no detectable infection, IC is may be the

cause, and after this patient gets proper lab tests done, you will

have a better idea of what's happening.

Most traditional treatments for a UTI will make IC worse--that

includes antibiotics, certain chinese and western herbs, cranberry

juice, etc. So unless someone has a hx of frequent UTI's, I believe

a urinalysis should be mandatory before prescribing AB's. Would

prevent alot of chronic long term pain and disease!
