Acupuncture works good for this.. I usually needle local pts, some Tan

distal pts, and surround the neuroma with estim. Usually immediate

discomfort, then 6 - 8 treatments. I think the pts surrounding the neuroma

do the best. Feet are sensitive if needling from the bottom. Sometimes if

the pxt has trouble with the larger needles, I have used ear needles for the

underside of the foot.

Treated a 70 year old woman with it on her left foot. Treated her for

about 6 weeks. 1st 2 wks I saw her twice a week, next month I saw her

once a week. Her underlying problem was Kidney xu and Lr Blood xu. I

first did heavy dispersing with electro-acupuncture. Gb 41 to Gb 34 and

simultaneous St. 44 to St. 40. At same time then added with no electro

points to build up Kidney and Liver to build up core energy. She did

hours of walking every day and the treatments kept her pain free til

about noon every day and then she had about 30 per cent of pain come

back as it got to be late afternoon as she did more walking. The herb

formulas I gave her did no good as she barely would take them. Her

husband it seemed stopped her from coming in because he thought the pain

should already be all gone.

A prospective patient and former colleague just called me about this

condition. Any suggestions on how to treat? I know it came up not

long ago but can't get it from the archives. Maybe it's under heel spurs?

Any suggestions would help. What came to mind for me (of course

without seeing him) is the balance method - opposite hand as a mirror

(ouch)

Thanks,

Anne

Find out what the pattern differentiation is and treat accordingly. Western

Diagnoses are almost always useless - actually, they are always useless. What is

useful is imaging and test results. Morton's neuroma may or may not involve

(it's supposed to involve) a swelling of the nerves between the toes. Doesn't

always happen because of pattern differentiation, i.e.: sometimes it's blood

stasis, sometimes it's fire obstructed, sometimes it's damp, sometimes it's

damp-heat or qi deficiency, and so on.

Palpate the area and determine hot, cold, excess, deficiency, etc, investigate

precipitating events, you'll do fine.
