The Collaterals...

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can give me a better understanding of " the

collaterals " ? Is it another name for the luo connecting channel's

minute network that distributes blood to all the tissues? I've heard

this term often enough to wonder about it but not often enough to " get

it " . I looked in Wiseman's dictionary of Chinese medicine and its not

there. One place that I recently came across this term is in Bensky's

newest materia medica, where He Huan Hua is said to invigorate the

collaterals.
