Guest guest
Dear All, I was researching treatment for tremors (Parkinson's) and found a paper on PubMed that listed a group of points on the scalp. I am not familiar with the names/location and I am wondering if anyone can direct me to a diagram or name of the sub-system of these points. OBJECTIVE: To probe the mechanism of electro-scalp acupuncture in treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD) by single photon emission computer tomography (SPECT). METHODS: Five cases of PD received electro-scalp acupuncture at DingnieQianxiexian (MS 6), Epangxian III (MS 4), Dingpangxian I (MS 8), Dingpangxian II (MS 9) and Zhenxia Pangxian (MS 14). Contralateral points were selected for pathologic change on one side and bilateral points were selected for pathologic lesion on both sides. There seemed to be some success and I'm anxious to use these on a patient of mine. Thank you. Jean Dombroski, LAc

Guest guest
Thanks Cameron. I did see that article http://www.itmonline.org/arts/newscalp.htm but was not clear if the points mentioned in the research paper were the same as those in the ITM article. Guest guest
Jean, The MS designations are from International Standard Scalp acupuncture (MS6 = motor line). There are several books that give details. Traditional scalp acupuncture has a " chorea-trembling " line that is near the motor line. You might look at traditional method, too.
