Hi Dr. Fadaie! In light of my recent good experience with prolotherapy, I think that prolotherapy should be considered before any operation. In four treatments over two months I am very much better. I had not only scoliosis, but every other skeletal imbalance you could imagine. Most of this is due to stretching and tears in the soft tissue, which will not heal on their own because they have no circulation of their own. Prolotherapy draws blood to the area. Of course, it is technique intensive, so some doctors will do better than others. Try to find someone who has had a success with it, and then see the doctor who treated him/her. -- Regards, Pete http://www.pete-theisen.com/

Hi Dr. Fadaie! Here in Florida it is practiced by some Acupuncturists who have the appropriate training, Osteopaths, Naturopaths and some Medical Doctors. If your patient can visit Florida for a few months, or could commute several times, he/she could easily get this treatment. I don't know anyone in Iran who does it, but there may be someone. The treatments are not incapacitating, but the patient might be a little shaky afterward and have some local pain, swelling and bruising. The treatment itself is a bit uncomfortable, about like getting strong acupuncture from an old-school Chinese doctor. It is contraindicated for obese patients, unless ultrasound guided. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prolotherapy -- Regards, Pete http://www.pete-theisen.com/

Guest guest
A C-arm does cost much more but as i said ultrasound has many limitations. We use ultrasound all the time now and its a great tool especially for diagnosis and guided injections, but if you are trying to inject a facet joint in an morbidly obese pt it not very good. - Pete Theisen Chinese Medicine Wednesday, June 20, 2007 6:52 AM Re: Re: TCM -? acupuncture and scoliosis On Tuesday 19 June 2007 16:01, Alon Marcus wrote: > It is contraindicated for obese patients, unless > ultrasound guided. > > I would not say contraindicated we have injected many severely obese pt > blind. Guest guest
Dear Dr. Fadaie, TuiNa/AnMa Massage Therapy could reduce scolliosis if performed by experienced practitioner! Usually within a reasonable timespan too. TuiNa is done in stages several stages from softening up tissues around the site of the problem to restoring the diseased joint(s) to realign body and restore homeokinesis. I have worked on patients with scolliosis (not as severe as you describe though) with a combination of acupuncture for constitution/cause (often Kid/Liv Yin def) and TuiNa for symptoms restoring the Spine - with good results! Hope this helps! Hi Dr. Fadaie! If soft tissue laxity or soft tissue injuries are the problem. Quite often these are the problem. If it is a muscle tone problem, acupuncture or acupuncture injection therapy will help it. You could learn all of these techniques yourself if you can travel to Florida, they are all taught here. -- Regards, Pete http://www.pete-theisen.com/
