Guest guest
Some well-respected teachers in the body-work realm believe that scoliosis is set by the organ tone, and the flexible spine is adapting to the torsional forces created by organ imbalances. I have heard that in girls, the problem is often in the balance between Liver and Kidney (or more specifically, ovaries), while in boys it more often involves the Lungs (not sure if it is LU/LIV imbalance or LU/KI.) As an ex-dancer, I have observed my structural alignment change quite dramatically over the last 6 years as I have studied, received and practiced acupuncture (and herbs). Not just my spine has changed, but also leg alignment, though I haven't been doing anything much in the realm of movement or exercise. So I do believe acupuncture could have a great affect on problems like scoliosis, though I imagine it would take persistant work over several years to make a lasting difference. It's worth a try if the patient is at all interested, and certainly beats surgery as an option for someone only 12 yrs old. --RoseAnne, L.Ac, NYC ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
