Personalized medicine is defined as the ability to use an individual's genetic makeup to tailor medical care to unique and specific needs of the individual patient. An example would be the prescribing of certain medications at selected dosages that an individual could tolerate without significant side effects. One person's tolerance may be different from that of another.
