My grandmother thought Vicks cured everything in this world and used it on all her kids and grandkids until the day she died. This was most interesting hearing about this healing balm on the bottom of feet to stop a cough. Thanks for sharing that info.

Ten Ways To Be A Great Person of God1. Speak to People. There is nothing as nice as a cheerful word of greeting.2. Smile at People. It takes 72 muscles to frown, but only 14 to smile!3. Call People by Name. The sweetest music to anyone's ear is the sound of his or her own name.4. Be Friendly and Helpful. If you would have friends, be friendly.5. Be Cordial.Speak and act as if everything you do were a real pleasure.6. Be Genuinely Interested in People. You can like everyone if you try.7. Be Generous with Praise, Cautious with Criticism.Praise will win out when it comes to gaining friends.8. Be Considerate of the Feelings of Others. It will be appreciated.9. Be Thoughtful of the Opinions of Others.People love their opinions as they do their own children, calling Them ugly won't get you anything but anger.10. Be Alert to Give Service. What counts most in life is what we do for others! Author Unknown

Affirmations for Love: Love is my true nature. I joyfully express love and attract love. Today I resolve to think, speak, and act in loving ways. The more love I give, the more love returns to me. Everyone is a blessing to me, and I bless everyone in return. Love and joy abound in my world, and I am happy now. Today's Quote: To grow in love is to grow in life. You begin to be alive to your fingertips. And your fingertips begin to be healing. You heal everything you touch, and you touch everything. E. Stanley Jones -Zinester

Fw: Vicks and MSG

- Billy-Joe: Mauldin Undisclosed-Recipient:; Saturday, November 22, 2008 1:07 PMVicks and MSGVicks - The best cold medicine ever devised!During a lecture on Essential Oils, they told us how the foot soles can absorb oils. Their example: Put garlic on your feet and within 20 minutes you can 'taste' it. Some of us have used Vicks Vapo rub for years for everything from chapped lips to sore toes and many body parts in between. But I've never heard of this. And don't laugh, it works 100% of the time, although the scientists who discovered it aren't sure why. To stop night time coughing in a child (or adult as we found out personally), put Vicks Vapo rub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime, then cover with socks. Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about 5 minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. Works 100% of the time and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly.Just happened to tune in A.M. Radio and picked up this guy talking about why cough medicines in kids often do more harm than good, due to the chemical makeup of these strong drugs so, I listened. It was a surprise finding and found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime, in addition to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on to sleep soundly. My wife tried it on herself when she had a very deep constant and persistent cough a few weeks ago and it worked 100%! She said that it felt like a warm blanket had enveloped her, coughing stopped in a few minutes and believe me, this was a deep, (incredibly annoying!) every few seconds uncontrollable cough, and she slept cough-free for hours every night that she used it. If you have grandchildren, pass this on. If you end up sick, try it yourself and you will be absolutely amazed at how it works. DON'T SHUN THIS ONE.. TRY IT THE NEXT TIME YOU GET A BAD COLD.****************************MSG - a slow Poison!MSG hides behind 25 or more names, such as Natural Flavoring.' MSG is even in your favorite coffee from Tim Horton's and Starbucks coffee shops! I wondered if there could be an actual chemical causing the massive obesity epidemic, and so did a friend of mine, John Erb. He was a research assistant at the University of Waterloo in Ontario , Canada , and spent years working for the government. He made an amazing discovery while going through scientific journals for a book he was writing called The Slow Poisoning of America. In hundreds of studies around the world, scientists were creating obese mice and rats to use in diet or diabetes test studies. No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so scientists have to create them. They make these creatures morbidly obese by injecting them withMSG when they are first born. The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates, causing rats (and perhaps humans) to become obese. They even have a name for the fat rodents they create: 'MSG-Treated Rats.'When I heard this, I was shocked. I went into my kitchen and checked the cupboards and the refrigerator. MSG was in everything -- the Campbell 's soups, the Hostess Doritos, the Lays flavored potato chips, Top Ramen, Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper, Heinz canned gravy, Swanson frozen prepared meals, and Kraft salad dressings, especially the 'healthy low-fat' ones. The items that didn't have MSG marked on the product label had something called 'Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein,' which is just another name for Monosodium Glutamate. It was shocking to see just how many of the foods we feed our children everyday are filled with this stuff. MSG is hidden under many different names in order to fool those who read the ingredient list, so that they don't catch on. (Other names for MSG are 'Accent, 'Aginomoto,' 'Natural Meat Tenderizer,' etc.)But it didn't stop there. When our family went out to eat, we started asking at the restaurants what menu items contained MSG. Many employees, even the managers, swore they didn't use MSG.But when we ask for the ingredient list, which they grudgingly provided, sure enough, MSG and Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein were everywhere.Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, every restaurant -- even the sit-down eateries like TGIF, Chili's, Applebee's, and Denny's -- use MSG in abundance. Kentucky Fried Chicken seemed to be the WORST offender : MSG was in every chicken dish, salad dressing and gravy. No wonder I loved to eat that coating on the skin -- their secret spice was MSG!So why is MSG in so many of the foods we eat? Is it a preservative, or a vitamin? Not according to my friend John Erb. In his book The Slow Poisoning of America, he said that MSG is added to food for the addictive effect it has on the human body.Even the propaganda website sponsored by the food manufacturers lobby group supporting MSG explains that the reason they add it to food is to make people eat more.A study of the elderly showed that older people eat more of the foods that it is added to. The Glutamate Association lobbying group says eating more is a benefit to the elderly, but what does it do to the rest of us?'Betcha can't eat [just] one,' takes on a whole new meaning where MSG is concerned! And we wonder why the nation is overweight!MSG manufacturers themselves admit that it addicts people to their products. It makes people choose their product over others, and makes people eat more of it than they would if MSG wasn't added. Not only is MSG scientifically proven to cause obesity, it is an addictive substance. Since its introduction into the American food supply fifty years ago, MSG has been added in larger and larger doses to the pre-packaged meals, soups, snacks, and fast foods we are tempted to eat everyday. The FDA has set no limits on how much of it can be added to food. They claim it's safe to eat in any amount. But how can they claim it's safe when there are hundreds of scientific studies with titles like these:'The monosodium glutamate (MSG) obese rat as a model for the study of exercise in obesity.' Gobatto CA, Mello MA, Souza CT , Ribeiro IA. Res Commun Mol Pathol Pharmacol. 2002.'Adrenalectomy abolishes the food-induced hypothalamic serotonin release in both normal and monosodium glutamate-obese rats.' Guimaraes RB, Telles MM, Coelho VB, Mori C, Nascimento CM, Ribeiro. Brain Res Bull. 2002 Aug.'Obesity induced by neonatal monosodium glutamate treatment in spontaneously hypertensive rats: An animal model of multiple risk factors.'Iwase M, Yamamoto M, Iino K, Ichikawa K, Shinohara N, Yoshinari Fujishima.Hypertens Res. 1998 Mar.'Hypothalamic lesion induced by injection of monosodium glutamate in suckling period and subsequent development of obesity.' Tanaka K, Shimada M, Nakao K Kusunoki. Exp Neurol. 1978 Oct.No, the date of that last study was not a typo; it was published in 1978. Both the 'medical research community' and 'food manufacturers' have known about the side effects of MSG for decades. Many more of the studies mentioned in John Erb's book link MSG to diabetes, migraines and headaches, autism, ADHD, and even Alzheimer's.So what can we do to stop the food manufactures from dumping this fattening and addictive MSG into our food supply and causing the obesity epidemic we now see?Several months ago, John Erb took his book and his concerns to one of the highest government health officials in Canada While he was sitting in the government office, the official told him, 'Sure, I know how bad MSG is. I wouldn't touch the stuff.' But thistop-level government official refuses to tell the public what he knows. The big media doesn't want to tell the public either, fearing issues with their advertisers. It seems that the fallout on the fast food industry may hurt their profit margin. The food producers and restaurants have been addicting us to their products for years, and now we are paying the price for it. Our children should not be cursed with obesity caused by an addictive food additive. But what can I do about it? I'm just one voice! What can I do to stop the poisoning of our children, while our governments are insuring financial protection for the industry that is poisoning us?This message is going out to everyone I know in an attempt to tell you the truth that the corporate-owned politicians and media won't tell you.The best way you can help to save yourself and your children from this drug-induced epidemic is to forward this article to everyone. With any luck, it will circle the globe before politicians can pass the legislation protecting those who are poisoning us.The food industry learned a lot from the tobacco industry. Imagine if big tobacco had a bill like this in place before someone blew the whistle on nicotine? If you are one of the few who can still believe that MSG is good for us and you don't believe what John Erb has to say, see for yourself. Go to the National Library of Medicine at www.pubmed.com. Type in the words 'MSG Obese' and read a few of the 115 medical studies that appear. We the public do not want to be rats in one giant experiment, and we do not approve of food that makes us into a nation of obese, lethargic, addicted sheep, feeding the food industry's bottom line while waiting for the heart transplant, the diabetic-induced amputation, blindness, or other obesity-induced, life-threatening disorders. With your help we can put an end to this poison. Do your part in sending this message out by word of mouth, e-mail, or by distribution of this printout to your friends all over the world and stop this 'Slow Poisoning of Mankind' by the packaged food industry.Blowing the whistle on MSG is our responsibility, so get the word out.

Melamine's Lethal Contamination

http://snipurl.com/6flci [www_opednews_com]November 21, 2008Melamine's Lethal ContaminationBy Peter smithRecently the American government's FDA, decided to allow their population to consume, for the first time, food which contains cyanuric acid and also melamine at 2.5 parts per million (ppm).Reimschuessel et. al. state that although "melamine and cyanuric acid appeared to have low toxicity when administered separately"(1), when taken together they were highly toxic.Wikipedia defines a Binary Chemical Weapon as "two chemicals that when combined make a toxic agent".Cremonezzi et al describe melamine as a "tumorigenic agent"(2) that induced "pre-neoplastic (pre-cancerous) urothelial proliferation"(2)Cats fed 2000 ppm melamine and cyanuric acid developed lethal kidney failure in just 2 days(3), so perhaps humans fed 2 parts per million melamine and cyanuric acid will developed lethal kidney failure in 2000 days or about six years. There is no antidote to melamine and cyanuric acid poisoning. Prawns, fish, eggs, biscuits, poultry, wheat and milk powder from the Northern Hemisphere have all been contaminated.Rule number 8 for Journalists at the Beijing Olympics was that no Journalist was to ask questions about Melamine contamination. From 1990 to 1999 China added cheap, non-toxic Urea to Wheat to raise its Nitrogen content. Later it changed to a more expensive and lethal combination of Melamine and Cyanuric Acid, to raise the Nitrogen content of wheat. Why would it do that? Why do we not see lots of company executives being jailed in China for this? Why have they not made and strictly enforced a law to prevent this? Why did Russia test and ban all foods containing any Melamine and Cyanuric Acid while other countries continued to allow them to be sold? The USA eats a lot more factory made food whilst the Chinese eat more made at home, basic food, free of Melamine. Whose population will be more affected, China's or the USA,s?1. PMID: 18764697 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/187646972. PMID: 15500936 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/155009363. Bush pushes for deregulation of GM crops before he goes

http://www.reuters.com/article/environmentNews/idUSTRE4AK7BQ20081121GMO crop critics fear USDA will ease regulationsFri Nov 21, 2008 4:04pm ESTBy Carey GillamKANSAS CITY, Missouri (Reuters) - Critics of biotech crops were trying to head off rule changes by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the waning days of the Bush Administration that the critics said would ease restrictions on the controversial crops."USDA is laying the statutory groundwork to eliminate a lot of genetically modified plants from any regulation at all, even at the field test stage," said Center for Food Science policy analyst Bill Freese.Monday is the deadline for comments on proposals that could impact how a range of genetically modified organisms are regulated, as well as limit state and local government regulation of such crops. There is also language that would formalize an existing policy providing that low levels of contamination by unauthorized biotech crops would not necessarily require remedial action.Several environmental, consumers and farm groups alarmed at the details of the changes are urging members to sign petitions opposing the changes."We want to stop these last-ditch attempts by the Bush Administration to put through bad genetic engineering rules," said Anne Petermann, co-director of the Global Justice Ecology Project. The USDA and its Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, which regulates certain genetically engineered organisms including plant pests that may damage crops and other plants, have been revising their policies after coming under criticism for lax oversight practices.Last year, a judge found USDA acted illegally when it allowed unrestricted commercial planting of Monsanto Co's "Roundup Ready" biotech alfalfa without fully analyzing the environmental impact.USDA has said the new rules came after comprehensive review and would allow USDA to provide effective oversight of the technology.APHIS spokeswoman Rachel Iadicicco said the goals were to insure the safe development and use of certain genetically engineered organisms while reducing the "regulatory burden.""There are some things in there to lessen the regulatory burden but also we want to ensure that the organisms are overseen appropriately," she said.Iadiciccio said all public comments would be considered.Biotech critics said one particular concern deals with language that states "all state and local laws or regulations that are inconsistent... (with APHIS rules) will be preempted."That potentially could impact actions like that seen last month in Hawaii where a county council recently banned growing biotech coffee as well as taro.Genetically modified crops, particularly corn and soybeans that are resistant to herbicide, are popular with U.S. farmers. St. Louis, Mo.- based Monsanto Co is the leading developer of such crops. In all, 23 countries allow the cultivation of biotech crops, but much of Europe, Japan, and most of Africa remain opposed to genetically altered crops.Opponents say genetically altered crops can hurt human and animal health and damage the environment. And many farmers fear they will lose customers if their nongenetically altered crops are contaminated with the biotech varieties.A recent study out of Austria indicated a correlation between genetically engineered corn and infertility, prompting the Center for Food Safety to call for a moratorium on the distribution of genetically engineered foods until the risk can be further assessed.=====In accordance with Title 17 U.S.C. Melamine Cont'd: It is Becoming More Widely Spread in Your Food

Posted by: "Viviane Lerner" vivlerner vlerner2002

Sat Nov 22, 2008 4:15 pm (PST)

http://snipurl.com/6ccsl [articles_mercola_com]Deceptive "Protein" Toxin is Becoming More Widely Spread in Your FoodFirst baby milk formula, then dairy-based products from yogurt to chocolate, and now chicken eggs have been contaminated with melamine. An admission that the industrial chemical is regularly added to animal feed in China has fueled fears that the problem could be more widespread, affecting fish, meat and possibly many other foods.Melamine is rich in nitrogen, which means that it gives low-quality food and feed artificially high protein readings. But extremely high levels of melamine can cause kidney stones, and in some cases can bring on life-threatening kidney failure. However, there have been no tests on melamine's precise effects in humans.Until the contaminated baby formula became public in a few months ago, there was never any reason to. The situation has left consumers worldwide, particularly parents, worried about food products from China, and even those made elsewhere with ingredients imported from Chinese companies.Sources:ABC News October 31, 2008Dr. Mercola's Comments:In the wake of the tainted dairy scandal, Chinese authorities are now admitting that the use of melamine -- an industrial chemical -- as filler in animal feed (which is also exported abroad) is a widespread practice. At this point there´s really no telling what, or how much, of your food might therefore contain this hazardous material. In May of 2007, reports surfaced that Canadian-made fish feed for farmed fish had been contaminated, and the use of melamine in chicken feed is the cause for this latest contamination found in eggs from China´s leading egg producer, Dalian Hanwei Enterprise Group.Melamine has become a popular profit booster because it shows up as a protein in some tests used to determine the nutritional value of a foodstuff.Manufacturers use the compound to make their products appear more nutritious. In 2007, melamine contaminated material labeled as wheat gluten and rice protein was shipped from Chinese manufacturers to pet food companies in the U.S. and elsewhere. Thousands of pets died from renal failure as a result.I find it baffling that toxicity experts would dare insinuate that this dangerous material would not likely sicken humans, despite the fact that at least four babies have died, and some 54,000 have been hospitalized from contaminated infant formula and milk products.Since when are children not considered humans? They claim the amount of the chemical in most foods, such as meat products, for example, would be too low to cause harm. But in reality, they have NO IDEA whether or not melamine might cause serious health effects in humans, besides renal failure - which in and of itself is bad enough, if you ask me.What is Melamine?Normally used in the manufacture of plastic and fertilizers, melamine is a compound composed of nitrogen, carbon and hydrogen. It was invented in the 1830s by a German scientist, and became a fashionable material for plastic household goods and laminates in the late 1930s.When combined with formaldehyde and exposed to extreme heat, melamine creates a moldable material that is virtually unbreakable once cooled. And therein lies the most obvious health problem. As explained in a recent article in the journal Eurosurveillance:"Melamine, when associated with cyanuric acid, can cause renal failure by the formation of insoluble melamine cyanurate crystals in renal tubules and/or the formation of calculi in kidneys, ureter, urethra or the urinary bladder. These calculi are a mixture of melamine, protein, uric acid and phosphate and as such are distinct from other kidney stones."Cyanuric acid is a white, odorless solid, used as a component in bleaches, disinfectants, and herbicides. The FDA also permits a certain amount of cyanuric acid to be present in some non-protein nitrogen (NPN) additives used in animal feed and drinking water. In water, cyanuric acid is mainly used as a precursor to N-chlorinated cyanurates, which are used as disinfectants. When melamine combines with the cyanuric acid, it forms fine, insoluble, and unbreakable little "plastic stones," which your body cannot dispose of.Additionally, there is evidence that melamine is carcinogenic under conditions that produce bladder stones in animals. And yet they insist that this compound is more or less harmless to humans. In the European Union, the tolerable daily intake (TDI) of melamine is 0.5 mg/kg body weight, even though studies to evaluate the real risks of melamine on human health are lacking.Symptoms of Melamine ToxicityChina and other countries like Canada and the U.S. have reported melamine contamination of milk-containing products, including infant formula, commercially sold milk, frozen yogurt dessert, coffee creamer, ice-cream, chocolate, toffees, cookies and candies. The following symptoms have been observed in infants affected by infant formula laced with high amounts of melamine:Unexplained fever arising from urinary tract infectionsUnexplained crying in infants, especially when urinating, possible vomitingSmall amounts of blood in the urineAcute obstructive renal failurePain on urinating, and passage of stones while urinatingHigh blood pressureEdemaPain over the kidneysIt would certainly be wise to visit your physician if your child exhibits any of these symptoms. The melamine "stones" will show up on x-rays.There are also an estimated 27 million Americans suffering from chronic kidney disease, who would want to take extra precautions with the foods they consume, in light of this disturbing contamination trend.Bottom LineThe bottom line here is: know where your food comes from and how it´s produced. This may sound like an impossible task, and in many cases it will be. Particularly if you depend on processed and commercially farmed foods. However, if you purchase your raw dairy, grass-fed meats, and free- range eggs from local farmers that adhere to organic farming practices, you can eliminate much of these worries since their livestock must be put out to pasture and eat what God intended for most part of the year, instead of relying on potentially contaminated animal feed. This reference page contains links to a long list of organizations that can help you find local sources for high quality organic foods.Related Articles:GMO Food Contamination is ForeverFood Safety's Dirty Little SecretChemical Contamination Linked to Early Puberty=====In accordance with Title 17 U.S.C. Top Five Ways to Avoid GMOs in Your Food

Posted by: "Viviane Lerner" vivlerner vlerner2002

Sat Nov 22, 2008 11:02 pm (PST)

http://www.NaturalNews.com/z024865.htmlTop Five Ways to Avoid GMOs in Your Foodby Dr. Gregory Damato, Ph.D. (see all articles by this author)(NaturalNews) Recent polls across the world have consistently shown that, if they had a choice, 90% of people would actively seek to avoid GMOs (genetically modified organisms) in their food. The large multinational corporations of the world have gone through extensive measures to ensure the citizens of most nations have no possible way of knowing whether the food they and their children are eating contain contaminants of GMOs. The labelling of GMOs on the packaging of any foods in the US for example, is illegal. For example, if a company like Kellogs decided to include a full disclosure label on their cereal box that stated, "contains genetically modified corn" they could be sued by the manufacturer and then face possible prison time. This is a very important issue because the democratic process of many nations has been surreptitiously supplanted by the corporatocracy of the seed company juggernauts. America has one of the highest levels of GMOs in their food chain in the western world with up to 85% of its pre-packaged and processed foods coming from genetic engineering. The people have never asked for GMOs- but got them anyway. The people then asked that they be properly labeled so they could avoid them- they were ignored. Therefore, seeing how our health freedom and well- being is consistently under attack from large multi-national corporations only seeking to increase profits at the expense of our health, what are we to do?What we can do is simply try to avoid the GMO contaminants altogether and be extremely vigilant of how we spend our money and which companies we are choosing to support. Here are five simple and effective ways to decrease your contact with untested, toxic and dangerous GMOs.1.) Buy Locally Produced FoodFor now, GMOs are only used by large multinational corporations who buy direct from large farms. Produce from local mom and pop farmers have yet to become genetically modified. Purchasing locally grown food supports your local farmers and your health. Not to worry about GMO tomatoes and potatoes as they have all been pulled from the market.2.) Buy Organically Grown FoodFor now, the organic certification process is a relatively safe bet to ensure your food is free of GMOs, although this may not be the case in the future. Help support global sustainability by purchasing certified organically grown food.3.) Avoid the Top Four GMO Crops of Soy, Corn, Canola and CottonseedThis is a bit tricky as most blended oils in North America contain canola and cottonseed. Whenever you go out to dinner and receive anything fried, you are most likely consuming GMOs from the oil, not to mention transfat. A way around this would be to purchase 100% extra virgin olive oil, but be sure to avoid the term olive oil as most of it is blended with some GMO cottonseed or canola. Unless it specifically states "Non-GMO" or some derivation on the label, it most likely contains GMOs.Likewise, any time you go you consume corn chips, tacos or soy milk, you are eating GMOs, again unless it specifically states Non-GMO or is organic.4.) Avoid Artificial Additives and SweetenersMost of use are aware of the dangers behind the artificial sweetener and excitotoxin, aspartame (known as preservative E951), but may not be aware that it is created using genetic modification. Even the majority of vitamin C (asorbic Acid) and many B vitamins have been created via genetic modification. A Japanese company was forced to pull GMO L-Tryptophan off the market in 1989 after thousands of people became severely ill with many developing an extremely rare blood disorder called, Esinophilia-Myalgia Syndrome (EMS), although the FDA never publicly mentioned that GMO contamination was the true cause of the recall.5.) Look For the Non-GMO LabelThis includes all animals used for food because most are typically fed GMO feed. If it does not state Non-GMO on the label, then email the manufacturer and ask if they use GMO feed. It is best to attempt to contact all of the manufacturers of the foods you generally eat on a daily or even weekly basis and determine whether GMOs ingredients are utilized in the food. You have a fundamental right to know whether the foods you are consuming have been contaminated with GMOs. When in doubt always look for the Non-GMO label, and unfortunately assume that it has been genetically modified unless the opposite have been explicitly stated.About the authorDr. Gregory Damato enjoys a vegan lifestyle and runs a Quantum Biofeedback clinic treating various clients ranging from autism to cancer. He is currently authoring a book for parents educating on the many hidden dangers of vaccines, chemical toxicity in toys, GM foods, the effects of EMFs and EMRs and ways to combat rising childhood illness and neurological disease by naturally building immunity, detoxification and nutrition. His goal is to increase global awareness of the myriad of health issue facing us today and the fact that 100% of them are preventable and completely reversible.=====In accordance with Title 17 U.S.C. This may now be harder than you think, now with Obama as president. If he appoints (or did he already?) Monsanto's buddy, former IowaGovernor Tom Vilsack, for the head of the USDA - the food is doomed! Vilsack supports genetically engineered pharmaceutical crops. Googlehis name and read how scary he is.It just boggles the mind how people couldn't see the long-rangeramifications of voting for such a liberal president. Carol
