I've worn compression stockings "Teds" with great success. Ascorbic acid, green tea, linden, stinging nettle, yarrow, hawthorn, corn silk, parsley, asparagus, watercress, watermelon. There's still more.

Just did a www on the TED's and it says specifically not to use without a doc's authorisation

We take Vit C, he drinks ginger tea, but we have Green Tea also, takes hawthorne, we are gorging on daily asparagus as it is in season and delicious, he munches copiously on watermelon.... have to look up ? linden and of course we are walking when we can... was a nice afternoon for it along the waterfront today.

Thanks for the tips.

When I used the Ted's it was in 2002 and I had just had the 4 little toes of my right foot amputated. I had an ulcer on the inside of my ankle toward the achilles tendon and my leg had cellulitis and was as big as a tree stump. My doctor used an Unna boot which squishes the water out of your leg but itches like fire. After that I started with the Ted's. I just wore the Ted's 24 hours a day for 8 months. The ulcer healed, the cellulitis healed, my leg shrank, and I was a lucky man. Yes, I can still feel the toes and no, I can't play "this little piggy" anymore.

Beautiful picture of the waterfront. I just noticed that your clouds look just the same as the clouds in California.

Fluid retention is adrenal gland related, get to the root, because

not doing so will just lead to more leaks and symptoms to treat down

the road. Rehydrate properly and get your sodium/potassium balanced.

Google warm water salt flushes.

Do to an injury several years ago, I too, have this problem. It is worse in the summer, but I can get it all year. There are several different things that I will do, all of which help greatly at different times. One thing that really causes it for me is sitting. When I have to sit for long periods, my feet/ankles swell tremendously, so I have learned to get up and walk around every few minutes, and also to lean back and keep my body as straight as possible. That 90 degree angle and the hips seems to cause alot of it. When I can't stretch out, I put my feet up as high as possible. Also, if you can, get away to lay in bed and put the feet higher than the heart for 10 minutes every hour. When these fixes are not possible, my doctor told me to wear Ted hose or tight socks. The compression keeps

the fluid from settling in the feet. Since it has been years and I have lost the socks/hose, I just use an Ace Bandage type deal. Also, I have noticed that what I wear or don't wear on my feet can contribute. Bare feet and flip flops cause swelling, while shoes seem to help alleviate it.

Good luck,

Would it not be better drinking as least possible liquids to lessen

this problem?

Dear Clare,

As long as you have ruled out other possible causes-

cardiac, kidney disorders and are aware of the reason for the oedema-

these suggestions should help-

If your ankles are affected, resting your feet up on a stool to help

your circulation and reduce swelling. Reduce time standing in one

position on your feet, not standing in one spot for long periods.

Calf exercises, point your feet so that your calf muscle is

tightened and release- repeat several times and during the day. Or

put the sole of your foot on the ground and raise your heel for a few

minutes.Walking also helps blod circulation, and reduces oedema by

the action of the calf muscle. This helps blood circulation to your

heart and reduces fluid retention, improving fluid return.

Gentle massage/ effleurage (stroking) in the direction of the heart

will improve lymphatic circulation and reduce oedema.

Reduce-cut out sodium/ salt intake, as this contributes to fluid

retention and puts more work on the renal system /kidneys.

I hope this is helpful

Kind Regards, Jenny
