Guest guest
CHINA NOW HAS HIGH LEVELS OF MELAMINE .. IN EGGS http://www.rumormillnews.com/cgi-bin/forum.cgi?read=134622 Posted By: Susoni <Send E-Mail>Monday, 27 October 2008, 2:50 a.m. They are getting ready to test Chinese pork, farmed fish and offal products (Offal means kidney, livers etc.) I've heard that Wal-Mart chicken and fish comes from China?!? Anyone know for sure? If Melamine is in the animal feed, then it will be in the animals themselves. I told Raye, and Zapper that a 'source' of mine said that the Melamine scandal was just beginning. It seems my source was correct. Susoni ********************** Tainted Eggs From China Discovered in Hong Kong (snip) SHANGHAI — Hong Kong food inspectors have found eggs imported from northeast China to be contaminated with high levels of melamine, the toxic industrial additive at the heart of an adulteration scandal in Chinese milk products. The findings, reported over the weekend, have raised new concerns that a far wider array of China-produced foods than previously believed could be contaminated with melamine, which has already sickened more than 50,000 children in China and led to at least four deaths. The center reported that the melamine level was almost double the legal limit for food sold in Hong Kong. (snip) Scientists in China worry that in addition to being used to adulterate dairy supplies, melamine may have been intentionally added to animal feed in China, according to a report published on Sunday in South China Morning Post. Tainted chicken and possibly fish and hog feed could result in poisonous meat and seafood, it said. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/27/world/asia/27china.html?hp ================================= Hong Kong is stepping up its tests of mainland Chinese food products, and is asking China's help to trace the source of melamine contamination in eggs. (snip) Testing of animal feed, chicken meat and eggs will also be introduced. Hong Kong scientists found excessive levels of melamine in one brand of mainland eggs on Saturday. The extra-large "Select Fresh Brown Eggs" imported from the Hanwei Group in Dalian in northeastern China, were found to have nearly twice the legal limit of melamine. Animal feed "We have contacted the mainland's food safety agency and hope they can do more to reduce the risk at the source," Mr Chow told reporters. He suggested the contamination may have come from animal feeds. "Since some animal feed used on the mainland might have been polluted by melamine, our tests will target more on meat imported from the mainland," Mr Chow said. "As we have found melamine in eggs, we shall also test chicken meat and we shall also look at offal, for example, chicken kidneys and pig kidneys," he said. The government plans to test all eggs imported from the mainland this week. Feed used by Hong Kong-based farmers appears to be free of contamination in tests conducted so far, and local farmers have said they do not use imported feed.
