Dear Debra,My name is Lynn Mac Farlane, my husband & I live in the Bootheel section of SW NM. We have, 3 acres, all fenced, we have a building that could be used as a temp barn or whatever. We have been doing animal rescue for some years now. Financially we are not doing too good, but if you need to relocate some of these animals, we can ask for donations for hay or whatever food is needed from the good people of Lordsburg. I can keep detailed records on everything. We have a Border Collie & a Heeler & I know they would love to take care of some herd animals. I raise exotic birds, so we could take in anything like that, most of our rescues for awhile have been ferrets, I am familiar with their diseases, + shelter shock, deaf and or blind ferrets, biters, etc. We really do have too many cats to take in more, I guess we could try a dog or 2 if need be. So if you have some of these animals that need a home until their owners can take them, or decide what they want done with them, we can take them in. We will do our best to take care with anything we may get & stay in contact with the owners & work with them. At one time we had 31 ferrets, 11 were from a large rescue in Utah, a collector had over 200 in a small apartment, no water, no electricity. The word went out all over America to the ferret shelters & convoys were set up from the HS in Utah to selected shelters all over. My husband hired a motor home & he & a friend went to Missouri to meet another group coming from meeting yet another group bringing ferrets from Utah & after they loaded the motor home up, they went on to other shelters towards the east, this was when we were living in FL. I always ran my shelter, “ Clan War Weasels Refuge”, as a forever home, I did not adopt out, believing that they had gone through enough in their short lives & didn’t need to try to adjust anyplace else. I know if we had the money my husband would try to get over there to help out better, but all we can do is offer to help out in the only way we can. I pray that your rescue goes well & many animals are saved, it is people like you that keep this world going be-cause of the goodness in your hearts. God bless & keep you all, always.
