Demon Marijuana

Grown worldwide for millenia as a source of

food, medicine, fiber and paper, hemp was banned for the first time in

human history in 1938 by the United States.

The original impetus for outlawing the hemp plant came from the DuPont

and Mellon families with an important assist from William Randolf Hearst.

Hearst owned timber rights for millions of acres of forest land, the raw

material for newsprint. DuPont had patents for numerous synthetic

products that hemp is competitive with.

Harry Anslinger, the virulent racist who headed the Bureau of Narcotics

and spear-headed the campaign against " demon marijuana " was

married to the niece of Richard Mellon of the Mellon banking

family.

For those who believe that the world is run by and for the benefit of a

few interlocking families, this episode provides evidence for that

position.

Enforcing marijuana laws and jailing offenders is a multi-billion dollar

a year business that employs tens of thousands of people.

Thanks for the link. What a nightmare/scam this has caused everyone, this

war on drugs.

I certainly don't condone the use of hard drugs but hemp and it,s

higher THC cousin are benign as far as addiction is concerned .

If one considers the problems we have today with pollution, the cutting

down of trees for paper, oil, the balanced omega 3,6 and 9 available

in hemp, the curative THC properties for all kinds of disease, you

begin to see why they have outlawed this perfect plant.

MONEY.Same goes for natural health care, too much money involved

in pushing their group of drugs to allow even talking about

prevention.Ironic isn't it?the war on drugs.

Best regards

Guy

(snip) hemp is benign, marajuana is not and when abused is addicting. but hardly the biggest threat facing our society.......In over 40 years of study on Marijuana, I have never read any study that has shown it be be " addicting " even if it is " abused " . Can you please give me a source to back up your statement? And I mean a real study, not the Govt propaganda.

Hemp is Marijuana, the only difference is that when growing Hemp, male pollination is allowed to occur, which drives down the THC content. For smoking or ingesting, only the female buds are used and pollination is not allowed.

Marujuana is a brain-damafing gateway drug to stronger drugs, It also messes up hormones and boys may grow breasts that have to be surgically removed. Hemp is a great plant but smoking it as a drug is not a good idea.

Don't we have enough legalized drugs already? And can you tell one of them that contributes to the health or wealth of society? The government makes money by keeping it illegal but that is nothing compared to what it will cost us if it is made legal.--- On Thu, 8/21/08, Craig Rawlings <craig wrote:

Very poor answer. I am sorry also that there are thousands of people like you who won't debate, just hate, and keep regurgitating the old govt propaganda like ADDICTION. This keeps millions of people who could be helped by this herb to seek treatment with it.

If not one atom of smoke was inhaled there are still hundreds of ways that hemp could help people. It is a glorious plant that needs better press and understanding. I don't smoke anything and I admire this versatile plant immensely! What a shame that propaganda could create such hatred and misunderstanding.

Very poor answer. There are many other things that can help people with their pain - They just don't get you high. Those who want to legalize it are already users or want to be users.--- On Thu, 8/21/08, Craig Rawlings <craig wrote:

I think the Amerinds hold it to be a sacred medicinal plant. I've made the comment to my toking friends that it should be treated with far more respect than as an entertainment, and in fact, my personal p.o.v. is that it should only be used in a medicinal, reverential way.I've seen hemp oil carried in health food stores. My understanding is that hemp oil is medicinally potent. From: redbeverleDate: Thu, 21 Aug 2008 14:34:57 -0400Re: Re: Hemp: The outlawed plant"Very poor answer. "Those who want to legalize it are already users or want to be users."

Sorry - not true. You might want to drop blanket statements and generalizations from your argument. If it was legal and sold in stores I wouldn't smoke it. Did once, didn't like it.

I have researched its use and potentials and know that it is an under-utilized commodity. During the Revolutionary war farmers were mandated to grow hemp since it made such fine rope. Generally, if hemp is harvested properly, it doesn't need to be replanted. It will grow anew from its base. It is the only material that can make a continuous (i.e. infinite) strand. Paper could be made without trees. The seeds contain oil that is not only high in protein but can be burned as a fuel. France uses hemp to make super-light, almost fireproof, insulating building blocks.

Indicting hemp as an agent for getting high would be the same as damning corn, wheat, rye or Juniper berries because they are used to make forms of liquor. How many uses are there for grapes? Can you make clothes or sails from grapes? How many mean drunks have you known? Most of the dope smokers I have known are/were simple, lazy people that didn't cause harm. I don't want to be like them and I don't drink either.

Your rabid condemnation is embarrassing and speaks poorly of your ability to learn and absorb. As far as I am concerned there is no debate about hemp or marijuana just lack of knowledge.

I do not suugest hemp be illegal. Hemp is too valuable a commodity to ignore. I merely suggest that marijuana not be made legal. You have a good grasp for the benefits of hemp but not for the dangers of marijuana.--- On Thu, 8/21/08, Beverle Sweitzer <redbeverle wrote:
