Guest guest
Has anyone hard of Truehope.com and also ATTEND (http://newideas.net/attend.htm) Quick Note: My 6 yr. old is diagnosed bipolar border lined with adhd. Taking: (oxycarbamazepine (seen good results but would like " natural " good results & and just started strattera but gonna pull him off of that he's only used it two days) I interesting that I noticed when giving my son colloidal silver (during cold season). He had a " calm " sense about him and I have definitely noticed a mild change in his behavior which prompted me to suspect that he is missing some type of mineral or vitamins in his diet. That's when I came across truehope and Attend. I have read the pro's and con's that I could find online; however, after starting him on Strattera and balling because he looked like he was doped that was IT! I feel like all I can do is just try it. I believe that the earth provides us with the things to aid us but I just don't know where else to look or what direction to go in. Any help would sure be appreciated. Yes we do practice healthy/natural eating as well also cut out dyes in foods and no junk. I know someone will address what he's eating so thought I'd nip that. ~Mother on a Quest

Guest guest
Bipolar is an adult disease: Aspartame And Psychiatric Disorders Ralph Walton,M.D. (2007-09-20) Betty Martini, D.Hum, Founder Although psychiatry is far from an exact science, over the past half century there has been an explosive growth in our understanding of the human brain and consequently in our ability to diagnose and treat mental disorders. We have also become much more sophisticated about the impact of a variety of toxins on psychological processes. I am convinced that one such toxin is aspartame. ---------- Two years after aspartame was introduced onto the market I first became aware of the negative impact of this artificial sweetener on the central nervous system. I had been treating a then 54 year old woman with imipramine, a tricyclic antidepressant, because of recurrent major depressive episodes.Previous psychoanalytically based therapy had proven ineffective, but she responded dramatically to 150mg of imipramine per day. She had done well for 11 years on this medication, but was then suddenly hospitalized with a grand-mal seizure and subsequent manic episode. One could postulate that she was bipolar, and the antidepressant had triggered the mania - but she had been on the same medication for a total of 11 years, and for the previous 5 years at the same 150mg per day dose. Neither the seizure nor her mania was consistent with what we know about the clinical course of bipolar disorder or epilepsy. Careful history revealed that the only change in her life was a recent decision to switch from the sugar which she had always used to sweeten her iced tea to a newly marketed product with aspartame. Since aspartame can alter the balance of certain neurotransmitters which we believe are involved in mood disorders and can, in my opinion, alter the seizure threshold, I advised my patient to avoid allaspartame products. She did so, and had no further seizures, no further manic or depressive episodes. I discontinued the lithium carbonate which I had started when I mistakenly concluded that she had a bipolar disorder, reinstated her imipramine and she has continued to do well. After this case report was published in the medical literature, many patients with unexplained seizures or treatment resistant psychiatric problems were referred to me. I became increasingly convinced that aspartame could both trigger seizure activity and mimic or exacerbate a variety of psychiatric disorders. I presented a paper based on those patients at a 1987 MIT sponsored conference on Dietary Phenylalanine and Brain Function. Industry sponsored criticism was made that my conclusions regarding aspartame's toxicity could not be accepted as valid because my case reports were " merely anecdotal " and not based on double blind research. Unfortunately case reports do not currently have the respect in the mainstream medical literature which they deserve (historically much of medical progress has been based on careful observation of individual patients). Nevertheless, I was so convinced of aspartame's toxicity, and the need to have its hazards more widely appreciated in the medical community, that I did undertake a double blind study. That study - " Adverse Reactions to Aspartame: Double- Blind Challenge in Patients from a Vulnerable Population " was published in Biological Psychiatry in 1993. It demonstrated that individuals with mood disorders are particularly sensitive to aspartame and experienced an accentuation of depression and multiple physical symptoms. I had expected that the difficulties experienced by patients receiving aspartame would be fairly subtle (the dose of 30mg/kg/day was well below the level of 50mg/kg/day which the FDA considered " safe " ). I was not prepared for the severity of the reactions, and for obvious ethical reasons cannot perform any further human studies with aspartame. Over the ensuing years I have continued to see the multiple neurologic and psychiatric consequences of aspartame use. It can lower the seizure threshold and lead to an incorrect diagnosis of epilepsy, with subsequent inappropriate prescription of anticonvulsants. It can mimic or exacerbate symptoms of MS, it can paradoxically produce carbohydrate craving and weight gain. The world-wide epidemic of obesity and type 2 diabetes obviously has multiple causes, but I am convinced aspartame is a major factor. The explosive increase in our knowledge base in the neurosciences I referred to earlier is a topic beyond the scope of this brief report, but to drastically oversimplify, we know that in a variety of psychiatric disorders there is a disturbance in the balance of certain neurotransmitters. Specifically, serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine and acetylcholine are all major players. Aspartame can affect the levels & balance of all these transmitters. It impairs the absorption of L-tryptophan, the major precursor in the synthesis of serotonin. The phenylalanine from the dipeptide component of the aspartame molecule, is a major precursor in the norepinephrine-dopamine synthetic pathway. Recent research demonstrated that aspartame reduces acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme which breaks down acetylcholine - a key player in the central nervous system, with an important role in cognition and memory, and with a reciprocal, inhibitory relationship with dopamine. We are not sophisticated enough at this point in time to fully understand all the implications of the neurochemical changes induced by aspartame, but as a busy clinician I see the profound impact on patients' lives on a daily basis. It can both produce and aggravate depression, in certain patients it can trigger manic episodes, it can produce or aggravate panic attacks. Some of my patients have experienced a complete cessation of panic attacks and needed no further treatment after they completely eliminated aspartame from their diet. Certain schizophrenic patients have experienced fewer auditory hallucinations or needed less antipsychotic medication after the elimination of aspartame. It is essential that there be much greater awareness of the hazards of this highly toxic substance! Ralph G. Walton, M.D., Medical Director, Safe Harbor Behavioral Health Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine Adjunct Professor Of Psychiatry, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine Dr. Walton's aspartame study: " Adverse Reactions to Aspartame: Double-Blind Challenge in Patients from a Vulnerable Population: http://www.mindfully.org/Health/Aspartame-Adverse-Reactions-1993.htm Dr. Walton's research on Scientific Peer Reviewed Studies and Funding: http://www.dorway.com/doctors.html#walton Additional data on aspartame: http://www.mpwhi.com/ http://www.wnho.net/ Aspartame Toxicity Center: http://www.holisticmed.com/aspartame Betty Martini, D.Hum, Founder Mission Possible International 9270 River Club Parkway Duluth, Georgia 30097 <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = SKYPE />770 242-2599 Note from Martini: I've been out of town for a lecture, reason no mail on lists. This excellent new paper by Dr. Walton was distributed to an audience particularly concerned with psychiatric and behavioral problems. Also read Dr. Walton's comments about Abby Cormack of New Zealand who made world news when she was poisoned by aspartame in Wrigley's gum and about to be diagnosed as bipolar. http://www.mpwhi.com/experts_on_aspartame_and_abby_cormack.htm Off aspartame her symptoms disappeared. In New Zealand there were particularly sad aspartame/bipolar cases where families were wrecked. You can see Dr. Walton in the aspartame documentary " Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World " which is still being shown to audiences in NZ. It is alarming that in NZ they want Diet Coke sweetened with aspartame to be in " all " schools. The Minister of Health has been provided with " Report for Schools " http://www.mpwhi.com/report_on_aspartame_and_children.htm The first article in these reports is by Dr. Walton. As to alternatives for schools there is a new product just made available this month called Fiber 1, by Just Like Sugar, and it won't be in plastic. With aspartame (NutraSweet/Equal/Spoonful/Canderel/E951/Benevia, etc.) triggering psychiatric and behavioral disorders it must be immediately removed from schools. Good nutrition is so important for children. Today they are medicated instead of educated. Guest guest
More Info... We steer away from Aspartame (sp) so no worries there. Took him to a few that automatically labeled him ADHD and then we went on that lovely ride of ADHD medication in which they all made him worse. So then we found one who actually listened and DID mention that the medical field does not like to label children bipolar until they are early teenaged so then we tried a bipolar med. can't recall it now but his father, grandfather, and great grandfather all have the same problem...bipolar. His father is on oxycarbamazepine because we saw good results with that we researched it and found that it was starting to be used with kids so we did just that and we've seen good results. Only problem now is his spurts of impulsivity and I should mention he was diagnosed bipolar w/borderline adhd. , " Tizzy " <tash_75_99 wrote: > > Has anyone hard of Truehope.com and also ATTEND > (http://newideas.net/attend.htm) > > Quick Note: My 6 yr. old is diagnosed bipolar border lined with adhd. > Taking: (oxycarbamazepine (seen good results but would like " natural " > good results & and just started strattera but gonna pull him off of > that he's only used it two days) > > I interesting that I noticed when giving my son colloidal silver > (during cold season). Guest guest
Worst thing about doctors/medicine is that when 'they' don't know, 'they' experiment. My mom told me that I was ADHD when I was growing up (I don't remember being hyper though), I eventually grew out of it. I was never put on any of those 'so called' medications. Guest guest
I wouldn't judge a child's problems as " misbehavior " if you haven't been around the child. No one knows better than his mom what kinds of things are going on and how torturous it is to deal with. I think it's ridiculous to accept a diagnosis of bipolar or even AHDH, but I also think it's ridiculous to insinuate that he's simply impulsive and creative. It sounds to me that if his father and grandfather have had the same issues that there is something justifiable going on. But, I don't think that settling for a 21st century text book answer and giving him drugs is the answer. I do think that it's worthwhile to look into vitamin/mineral deficiencies, allergies (specifically gluten) and/or other environmental and diet issues. Maybe he has a significant yeast overgrowth? I have a son who is a bit hyperactive and we've been able to calm him down by keeping sugar and processed foods out of his diet. He drinks absolutely no soda pop or store bought juice either. We also use an essential oil called Peace and Calm made by Young Living Oils. , andrea brown <mlsw532000 wrote: > > children are naturally impulsive lol that is why you have to supervise them. impusivity is simply interest and creativity. if they dont want to label him then why are they? i dont understand why you are here posting if you have decided to trust this diagnosis? i'm not trying to be mean. kids are kids, you havent detailed his alleged symptoms enough for anyone to get a grasp of what you're inquiring about. i would suggest you get a good text book on child development., prior to say 1980. and childhood behavior. education is power. Guest guest
this is a form of tegretrol, a siezure medication, maybe you should consider the long term effects of medicating your son for a siezure disorder he doesnt actually have, or that possibly you are seeing results BECAUSE he has a sizure disorder they are missing? siezures are not necessarily noticable. my nephew was diagnosed with all sorts of psychiatric disorders before my sister in law got fed up and took him to a nuerologist. he was having slight unoticable siezures, NOT a psychiatric condition. family history or not, bipolar should not be diagnosed in a 6 year old. if you look in the DSMIV the criteria is almost soley based on the participation of the client in articulating how his feelings and thoughts are effecting his/her life and the level of function that is being interupted by them. how does a 6 yr old articulate his thoughts or emotions? as for ADHD this is also diagnosed by a myriad of input from teachers, and parents, hardly ever is the child's perspective considered. boredome environmental stresses, anxiety, and diet, as well as life events can alter the way a child responds to his world and the people in it. how much structure does this child have? too little, too much? is he an only child or from alarge family? is he being bounced from care taker to care taker? is it possible he is somehwere on teh autsim spectrum? aspergers? autism, etc. has he had lead poisoning? a recent divorce? a move? perhaps he simply isn t adjusting to school as quickly as other kids? maybe hes gifted? talented? outspoken? spirited? please consider deeply your decision. sincerely andrea Tizzy <tash_75_99 Sent: Monday, August 18, 2008 6:46:58 PM Re: Ok Guys, Let's Talk BipolarMore Info...We steer away from Aspartame (sp) so no worries there. Guest guest
yeah if it exists at all. remember way back when everybody who acted differently had schizophremia? kids are hacking themselves up with razor blades while on bipolar meds. killing themselves, and each other and one side effect i know of that is not listed that many teens have reported to me while on the job is extreme HORNINESS. thats a great one for horny teenagers to get huh? lets not forget that these meds cause obesity, heart disease, tics, psyhcotic breaks, and diabetes. man oh man. "Dr. Betty Martini,D.Hum." <bettym19 ; Sent: Monday, August 18, 2008 2:31:04 PMRe: Ok Guys, Let's Talk BipolarBipolar is an adult disease:Aspartame And Psychiatric Disorders Ralph Walton,M.D.(2007-09-20) Betty Martini, D.Hum, FounderAlthough psychiatry is far from an exact science, over the past half century there has been an explosive growth in our understanding of the human brain and consequently in our ability to diagnose and treat mental disorders. We have also become much more sophisticated about the impact of a variety of toxins on psychological processes. I am convinced that one such toxin is aspartame.----------Two years after aspartame was introduced onto the market I first became aware of the negative impact of this artificial sweetener onthe central nervous system. I had been treating a then 54 year old woman with imipramine, a tricyclic antidepressant, because of recurrent major depressive episodes.Previous psychoanalytically based therapy had proven ineffective, but she responded dramaticallyto 150mg of imipramine per day. She had done well for 11 years on this medication, but was then suddenly hospitalized with a grand-mal seizure and subsequent manic episode. One could postulate that she was bipolar, and the antidepressant had triggered the mania - but she had been on the same medication for atotal of 11 years, and for the previous 5 years at the same 150mg per day dose. Neither the seizure nor her mania was consistent with whatwe know about the clinical course of bipolar disorder or epilepsy. Careful history revealed that the only change in her life was a recent decision to switch from the sugar which she had always used to sweeten her iced tea to a newly marketed product with aspartame.Since aspartame can alter the balance of certain neurotransmitters which we believe are involved in mood disorders and can, in my opinion, alter the seizure threshold, I advised my patient to avoid allaspartame products. She did so, and had no further seizures, no further manic or depressive episodes. I discontinued the lithiumcarbonate which I had started when I mistakenly concluded that she had a bipolar disorder, reinstated her imipramine and she has continued to do well. After this case report was published in the medical literature, many patients with unexplained seizures or treatment resistant psychiatric problems were referred to me. I became increasingly convinced that aspartame could both trigger seizure activity and mimic or exacerbate a variety of psychiatric disorders. I presented a paper based on those patients at a 1987 MIT sponsored conference on DietaryPhenylalanine and Brain Function.Industry sponsored criticism was made that my conclusions regarding aspartame's toxicity could not be accepted as valid because my casereports were "merely anecdotal" and not based on double blind research. Unfortunately case reports do not currently have the respect in the mainstream medical literature which they deserve(historically much of medical progress has been based on careful observation of individual patients).Nevertheless, I was so convinced of aspartame's toxicity, and the need to have its hazards more widely appreciated in the medical community, that I did undertake a double blind study. That study -"Adverse Reactions to Aspartame: Double- Blind Challenge in Patients from a Vulnerable Population" was published in Biological Psychiatry in 1993. It demonstrated that individuals with mood disorders are particularly sensitive to aspartame and experienced anaccentuation of depression and multiple physical symptoms. I had expected that the difficulties experienced by patients receiving aspartame would be fairly subtle (the dose of 30mg/kg/day was well below the level of 50mg/kg/day which the FDA considered "safe"). I was not prepared for the severity of the reactions, and for obvious ethical reasons cannot perform any further human studies with aspartame.Over the ensuing years I have continued to see the multiple neurologic and psychiatric consequences of aspartame use. It can lower the seizure threshold and lead to an incorrect diagnosis of epilepsy, with subsequent inappropriate prescription of anticonvulsants. It can mimic or exacerbate symptoms of MS, it can paradoxically produce carbohydrate craving and weight gain. The world-wide epidemic of obesity and type 2 diabetes obviously hasmultiple causes, but I am convinced aspartame is a major factor. The explosive increase in our knowledge base in the neurosciences I referred to earlier is a topic beyond the scope of this brief report, but to drastically oversimplify, we know that in a variety of psychiatric disorders there is a disturbance in the balance of certainneurotransmitters. Specifically, serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine and acetylcholine are all major players.Aspartame can affect the levels & balance of all these transmitters. It impairs the absorption of L-tryptophan, the major precursor in the synthesis of serotonin. The phenylalanine from the dipeptide component of the aspartame molecule, is a major precursor in the norepinephrine-dopamine synthetic pathway. Recent research demonstrated that aspartame reduces acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme which breaks down acetylcholine - a key player in the central nervous system, with animportant role in cognition and memory, and with a reciprocal, inhibitory relationship with dopamine. It is essential that there be much greater awareness of the hazards of this highly toxic substance!Ralph G. Walton, M.D.,Medical Director, Safe Harbor Behavioral HealthProfessor of Clinical Psychiatry, Northeastern Ohio Universities College of MedicineAdjunct Professor Of Psychiatry, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic MedicineDr. Walton's aspartame study: "Adverse Reactions to Aspartame: Double-Blind Challenge in Patients from a Vulnerable Population:http://www.mindfully.org/Health/Aspartame-Adverse-Reactions-1993.htmDr. Walton's research on Scientific Peer ReviewedStudies and Funding:http://www.dorway.com/doctors.html#waltonAdditional data on aspartame: http://www.mpwhi.com/http://www.wnho.net/Aspartame Toxicity Center:http://www.holisticmed.com/aspartameBetty Martini, D.Hum, FounderMission Possible International9270 River Club ParkwayDuluth, Georgia 30097<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = SKYPE />770 242-2599Note from Martini:I've been out of town for a lecture, reason no mail onlists. This excellent new paper by Dr. Walton was distributed toan audience particularly concerned with psychiatric and behavioralproblems. Also read Dr. Walton's comments about Abby Cormack of NewZealand who made world news when she was poisoned by aspartame inWrigley's gum and about to be diagnosed as bipolar.http://www.mpwhi.com/experts_on_aspartame_and_abby_cormack.htm Offaspartame her symptoms disappeared. In New Zealand there wereparticularly sad aspartame/bipolar cases where families werewrecked. You can see Dr. Walton in the aspartame documentary "SweetMisery: A Poisoned World" which is still being shown to audiencesin NZ. It is alarming that in NZ they want Diet Coke sweetened withaspartame to be in "all" schools. The Minister of Health has beenprovided with "Report for Schools"http://www.mpwhi.com/report_on_aspartame_and_children.htm The firstarticle in these reports is by Dr. Walton. As to alternatives for schools there is a new product just madeavailable this month called Fiber 1, by Just Like Sugar, and it won'tbe in plastic. Withaspartame (NutraSweet/Equal/Spoonful/Canderel/E951/Benevia, etc.)triggering psychiatric and behavioral disorders it must beimmediately removed from schools. Good nutrition is so importantfor children. Guest guest
i didnt insinuate anything, i pointed out a myriad of issues that could effect the child's behavior or the fact that a 6 yr old by nature is impulsive and creative and curious. his great grandfather had bipolar? bipolar as a specific disease hasnt even been diagnosed going that far back. i think this parent is being taken for a big pharma ride, may be pressured by others to diagnose her child and quite frankly am sick of of hearing about 2 year olds and 7 year olds etc with psychiatric disorders that require medications made for ADULTS, not approved by teh FDA for use in children and dangerous for kids and adults as well. human beings dont come in neat little packages, we are all unique, what one sees as a disability another sees as a gift. i simply pointed out that there could be and most likely are other reasons for whatever behavior appears to be intolerable. and stressed firmly that she should look into them before she settles on a diagnosis that could interfere with her child's future education and social devolpment. behavior in a 6 year old is a hardly a life or death issue needing immediate action, one can take their time with this type of problem. i dont think anyone posting in response was blaming her or trying to accuse her of anything. amazingly people care about people they dont even know, especially when 50% of americans know the scam of the psychiatric industry and its horrific results. it truly breaks my heart as a mom and a professional to see this going on. we just had a death recently in mass from an irresponsible psychiatrist who diagnoes and entire family with bipolar and one of the kids aged 3 died from the meds. this isnt a joke and if people are passionate in trying to get the word out i say GO FOR IT! mommy2threelilboys <mommyon731 Sent: Tuesday, August 19, 2008 1:23:42 PM Re: Ok Guys, Let's Talk BipolarI wouldn't judge a child's problems as "misbehavior" if you haven'tbeen around the child. No one knows better than his mom what kinds ofthings are going on and how torturous it is to deal with.I think it's ridiculous to accept a diagnosis of bipolar or even AHDH,but I also think it's ridiculous to insinuate that he's simplyimpulsive and creative. It sounds to me that if his father andgrandfather have had the same issues that there is somethingjustifiable going on. But, I don't think that settling for a 21stcentury text book answer and giving him drugs is the answer. I do think that it's worthwhile to look into vitamin/mineraldeficiencies, allergies (specifically gluten) and/or otherenvironmental and diet issues. Maybe he has a significant yeastovergrowth? I have a son who is a bit hyperactive and we've been ableto calm him down by keeping sugar and processed foods out of his diet.He drinks absolutely no soda pop or store bought juice either. Guest guest
psychiatry has a long history of experimenting on the human population. shock treatments, ice baths, drugs, labotomies, insulin shock. you name it they have tried it. as for physical , sexual and mental abuse, terrorists are treated better. now a days, they have victimized foster kids, prisoners, addicts, alcoholics, etc. 2/3 of all children in state custody are on medication, receive therapy, and are physically restrained. its important to know that most counseling agencies also own and operate private foster care homes and specialized foster care homes as well as group homes. they work IN the schools giving school based therapy to uninsured children or kids on state healthcare programs. without clients they dont get any funding. now if you have insurance, its important to understand that most hmo's will not pay for more then 7 weeks of therapy without a diagnosis, so in order to keep that cash flow coming in, a diagnosis must be made, my personal favorite is the NOS dagnosis, " non-specific " . now also remember when you dlegate your childs mental health to a therapist, they are in a room with a person you dont even know and you are not allowed to sit in unless invited. you have no idea what your child is saying, or what is being said to your child. your child's confidentiality is the law, tough nuts for you the parent. many parents report that their personal or religious values are bashed, or that an abuse or neglect case is being formulated without their knowledge. ( you know theere are beds that need to be filled in those private group homes) so be very careful. i know some kids or adults need some help, there are some very real psychiatric disorders that need treatment and for some medication is beneficial. but a parent must always place the health and wellbeing before thiers, and do their research. its very easy to cave to the pressures of the school , family, and so forth , but we must be strong, and go with our hearts and guts. there is just too much data out there proving the dangers far outweigh any benefit. Guest guest
I could not agree more. I am a survivor of sexual abuse in my family by my father and step father. My mother chose not to protect me, which was the hardest emotionally for me than you can imagine. I was in the foster care system for most of my childhood. This was in the late 60's so even saying the word "sexual abuse", let alone "incest" was something you just didn't do and if it was happening you went to church to deal with it....sick, sick, sick society we live in when we protect the perp's and evil in this world! And yet, there is a need for society to step in and help. Being diagnosed with several pyschiactric (sp?) disorders right down to being told I was a "nympomaniac" (I was 10!) by a doctor to my mother, really! And that I needed to be restrained and protected for my own safety. I have been writing a book about my life, which still isn't finished...I am now 53 and I hope that I can one day finish it, the trouble is I have to relive the nightmare over and over in order to do so. So, please, please protect your children from needless and horrible potential for an easy out diagnosis. Most children just need to be honored and listened to...they are trying to tell you something in the only way they can. They can not process information like we do. So, sometimes they act out instead. It makes most sense that they have problems with their diet or something in their environment. Environmental illness can make you feel crazy as adults,...imagine what it must be like as a child???? Bi polar is a reaction to something else...find out what is going on with things you can't necessarily see...talk to them, have people you trust in your family and friends talk to them...pull it out of them if in fact it is something happen ing that leaves them internalizing it instead, or...and....go to alternative medicine and find out if they are responding to a environmental illness. For me....remaining with my parents would have resulted in me commiting suicide, most definitely. Being in the foster care system was horrendous and was a trap that took the rest of my childhood away but it also saved my life, what was left of it! But, I had to say something here, perhaps off topic but yet a window into both worlds of possibility. jude andrea brown <mlsw532000 Sent: Tuesday, August 19, 2008 2:10:05 PMRe: Re: Ok Guys, Let's Talk Bipolar psychiatry has a long history of experimenting on the human population. shock treatments, ice baths, drugs, labotomies, insulin shock. you name it they have tried it. as for physical , sexual and mental abuse, terrorists are treated better. now a days, they have victimized foster kids, prisoners, addicts, alcoholics, etc. Guest guest
AND PLEASE know that I am not by any means saying your child is being abused....I was just responding the comment about foster care and child diagnosis of mental illness....I'm soo sorry if perhaps you thought otherwise, so I wanted to clear that up right away! jude andrea brown <mlsw532000 Sent: Tuesday, August 19, 2008 2:10:05 PMRe: Re: Ok Guys, Let's Talk Bipolar psychiatry has a long history of experimenting on the human population. shock treatments, ice baths, drugs, labotomies, insulin shock. you name it they have tried it. as for physical , sexual and mental abuse, terrorists are treated better. now a days, they have victimized foster kids, prisoners, addicts, alcoholics, etc. Guest guest
Andrea, You have some interesting things to say. However, I do find your e-mails rather hard to read. Guest guest
i couldnt agree more. i am also an abuse and neglect survivor, once a ward of the state myself. i just cry when i see kids given these meds and labeled, when maybe something more is going on. that is why i rattled off so many scenerios that could be possible. bullying also comes to mind. i wish the mom would post some more info. my kids went nuts after my divorce and the school was just ignorant about it, so i moved.they adjusted in their own time when they were able too. they were little for heavens sake. i agree about honoring and validating. they wanted to give my son meds when he was 5 so i took them first. i flushed them the next day, it was horrible. no way was i going to give him them. i'm glad you're writing a book. there are amny who would benefit so much from your insight and how you survived and recovered. good luck let me know when its finished i'll buy it. andrea Jude Johnson <jjskinguru Sent: Tuesday, August 19, 2008 5:34:48 PMRe: Re: Ok Guys, Let's Talk Bipolar I could not agree more. Guest guest
Andrea, I like your way of thinking. I too, think 'outside' the box. Kenneth T - andrea brown Tuesday, August 19, 2008 15:14 Re: Re: Ok Guys, Let's Talk Bipolar i didnt insinuate anything, i pointed out a myriad of issues that could effect the child's behavior or the fact that a 6 yr old by nature is impulsive and creative and curious. his great grandfather had bipolar? bipolar as a specific disease hasnt even been diagnosed going that far back. i think this parent is being taken for a big pharma ride, may be pressured by others to diagnose her child and quite frankly am sick of of hearing about 2 year olds and 7 year olds etc with psychiatric disorders that require medications made for ADULTS, not approved by teh FDA for use in children and dangerous for kids and adults as well. human beings dont come in neat little packages, we are all unique, what one sees as a disability another sees as a gift. i simply pointed out that there could be and most likely are other reasons for whatever behavior appears to be intolerable. and stressed firmly that she should look into them before she settles on a diagnosis that could interfere with her child's future education and social devolpment. behavior in a 6 year old is a hardly a life or death issue needing immediate action, one can take their time with this type of problem. i dont think anyone posting in response was blaming her or trying to accuse her of anything. amazingly people care about people they dont even know, especially when 50% of americans know the scam of the psychiatric industry and its horrific results. it truly breaks my heart as a mom and a professional to see this going on. we just had a death recently in mass from an irresponsible psychiatrist who diagnoes and entire family with bipolar and one of the kids aged 3 died from the meds. this isnt a joke and if people are passionate in trying to get the word out i say GO FOR IT!
