Guest guest
I generally agree with the side that says 'go natural', but in the case of Emergen-C, I've used it for many years to very good effect. Throw it my way. There are times when I just don't have time or stomach room for two oranges, 3 apples and a plate of bell peppers--life is really good at interfering with our good plans. At times of flagging spirits or energy and/or the threat of a cold/flu...or even just an overdose of stress--a little packet of Emergen-C is a real help. I know too many who believe exactly the same to throw out all supplements.Which leads me to another thought: not all medicines or current medical practices are wrong-bad-unsupportable.There are times when a good doctor and pharmaceuticals are the only thing that will save your b*tt. That's why they got the position of power they currently enjoy. IMO, the idea is to not rely too heavily on any one source of remedy and not be too extreme in any view...there is good and bad in all.Reveal your inner athlete and share it with friends on Windows Live. Guest guest
While free aspartic acid may be a problem ascorbates are not. Ascorbate is a primary transporter of minerals into the the cell membrane. Emergen-C contains ascorbates.--- On Sun, 8/10/08, Rebecca Price <raprice49 wrote: Rebecca Price <raprice49RE: Re: emergen-c and other medicineshealth_and_healing Date: Sunday, August 10, 2008, 4:30 PM I generally agree with the side that says 'go natural', but in the case of Emergen-C, I've used it for many years to very good effect. Guest guest
Well, you can get Emergen-C without the sweetener...which I believe I will from now on out (hearing my favorite pick-me-up is poisonous is like finding out my favorite uncle is a serial killer!). In researching this topic a bit more,I ran across these posts about it: Emergen-C contains Aspartic Acid Based on all of the positive responses I got from my last post, I decided to try the Emergen-C. I tried it for a few days and was able to keep it down. I could tell a difference (for the better) after taking it. However, yesterday I was on another forum that was talking about the artificial sweetener aspartame. Someone wrote in and said that was made up of 40% aspartic acid. I remember reading that on the "other ingredients" list on my Emergen-C box (but didn't make the connection at the time). I am not a scientist/chemist but I am very hesitant about taking this now.... Which sucks because I was really starting to like this stuff and its benefits. I'm not sure what to do. Can you all give me your opinion, here are some things I've found so far: http://www.unhinderedliving.com/aspartame.html Even though both phenylalanine and aspartic acid are amino acids that are present in the food we eat, and are safe when eaten naturally in foods with other amino acids present, taken alone and in elevated quantities they are neurotoxins which can permanently damage the developing brain and nervous system of the fetus, if the child is lucky enough to survive the potential destruction by the maternal immune system. Aspartic acid is an excitotoxin, which stimulates the neurons until they die(5). andGet more from your digital life. Find out how.
