Guest guest
my approach is always to use vodka... at least 40%... that way it stabilizes the herb/perserving it and offering a good protection from mold formation. take the herb in a dry form.... and mix it into the vodka. the more time you give it the better the alcohol is at extracting the properties from the herb and keeping them in solution. use the amt of the herb that you find to be safe and therapeutic... so you must research that on your own.... find 3 or 4 herbals and compare notes for doseages keep the tincture in a cool place away from the sun and keep it sealed... to prevent evaporation. dispense with a dropper so it remains clean for multiple users.--- On Wed, 9/3/08, Ayub Sheikh <ayubs2 wrote: Ayub Sheikh <ayubs2{Herbal Remedies} How to Make Tinctureherbal remedies Date: Wednesday, September 3, 2008, 9:29 PM Any ideas how to make tictures, to preserve effect of herbs ?? Guest guest
When making a tincture, I use the old folk method, and try to remember to do at full moon. If fresh, I put the fresh chopped herbs in a jar, and pour Everclear grain alchohol to cover herbs completely. I push down the herb to make sure it is all saturated and I like to leave 2 or so inches of alcohol above the herb. I shake a few times, then let it macerate for 2weeks and sometimes longer.I put in a dark place. I then strain it, and put into a bottle with an eyedropper and label and date it. Longer herb sets, stronger it will be. If using dried herbs, I use 100 proof vodka, which is 50% distilled water and 50% alcohol. Diane M/Fl In a message dated 9/4/2008 4:42:21 P.M. Now pour into a mason jar and keep in a cool dark place shaking it once a day for two weeks. You can use it immediately but the waiting period of marination really brings out the full power. After the two weeks you can strain out the chaf or leave it. It's up to you.paul--- On Thu, 9/4/08, Ayub Sheikh <ayubs2 > wrote: Ayub Sheikh <ayubs2 >{Herbal Remedies} How to Make Tinctureherbal remedies Date: Thursday, September 4, 2008, 12:29 AM Any ideas how to make tictures, to preserve effect of herbs ??
