Guest guest
Dear Stephanie, Mercola is wrong here in that his data is incomplete and misleading. He is simply mouthing an incomplete study of Paavo Airola that was lacking in all the data. It omitted some very important facts. The data he gives is true if one were drinking "large" amounts of Distilled water by itself, but false if drinking average amounts or if using distilled water to make herbal teas, etc. On the pH scale, 7.0 is neither acid nor alkaline. Above 7 is Alkaline. Below 7 is Acid. The average human body should be operating between 6.5 on the Acid side to 7.5 on the Alkaline side. Below 6.3 on a downwards spike is reason for concern. Above 7.8 is reason for concern on the Alkaline side. These are your ranges of safety when it comes to the Acid / Alkaline ratio. Out of this 6.3 to 7.8 range is reason for concern and immediate action. Distilled water that is not in a sealed container WILL absorb CO2 = Carbon Dioxide and become acidic (in its absolute pure state, it starts off at 7.0 = neutral), but will easily absorb whatever minerals or elements it comes in contact with it, and CO2 is one of the easiest and most available, so in a short period of time it will become acidic IF LEFT TO THE OPEN AIR TOO LONG!!!! If it is kept in a sealed container this will not happen so fast and it will only be slightly acidic and harmless. Furthermore you can add a few grains of Celtic or Haitian Sea Salt and this will replace any essential and important mineral loss. Before it will leach out the organic minerals from the human body, it will leach out the inorganic minerals which makes it an all important food to take. When one takes an 8 oz glass of distilled water with a meal, there is no way in hell it will leach out organic minerals from the body. There is more than enough minerals in the food to compensate. When you make a tea with distilled water, the water will leach the minerals out of the herbs, but is then "FULL" and absolutely no leaching of essential minerals will occur in the body. Unless one over does it, the only minerals distilled water will leach out are the inorganic minerals, and these you want out anyway. This is putting it into proper perspective. As Paul Harvey would say, this is the "Rest of the Story" ;-) As with any healing procedure or technique, one needs to use one's common sense. And one is responsible to do his or her own research, and you need to look at and listen to your body. It'll tell you if you're getting too excessive with either an herb or distilled water or any other substance. Distilled water is nothing to fear and I get sick of the scare tactics used by the Medicos and now this article by Mercola. He should know better. Any substance can be abused or misused. You can die from too much water. It's called drowning. Hope this helps. How are you and Valerie this great day? I have two questions for you: 1st. I bought my family a distiller for water about 1 year ago when we all went organic. I lost 80lbs from going almost all raw, organic and distilled water. Just this three changes impacted my life that much!!! Anyway, I have been taking my PH for a few months and "heard" that PH is important for water. So, I took a cup of distilled water, spring and tap. To my surprise the tap 6.0 slightly alkaline, the spring was 6.6 and the distilled was 5.5! I thought is might be because ALL the impurities and minerals are taken out of distilled. Is this true that PH is important in water? If so is there minerals I should be adding back into my distiller? Someone sent me this article and because belief it or not, you cannot believe everything you read - I wanted to check it out with you first!! Thanks for your thoughts and care for us all!!
