What about brown sugar?

Hi Rajan!

The only brown sugar I'd recommend is Sucanat. This is sugar right out of the sugar cane.

It is not the commercial brown sugar that is sold everywhere.

Sucanat does not have anything removed from it. Brown sugar is only slightly better than white if

(Hopefully) the Brown Sugar is colored with a little molasses which makes it brown.

Sucanat may not be easy for you to find (depending where you live) and will also be expensive if you do find it.

Try using less sweet all around. Gradually cut back on the amount of sweet you add to things.

Honey would probably be your best bet with spending as little as possible for the amount you get.

Remember it is twice as sweet as sugar. If you have dates, they can be used instead of sugar.

I use apple juice instead of sugar in recipes. In a banana bread, use very ripe bananas and you don't need any sugar at all. The bananas sweeten the bread. There are many tricks and once you stop using so much sugar, your taste

buds will change so you don't need so much sweet. It is what you get used to and believe me the flavor of foods comes

through much better when there is less sugar.

If you twist my arm, I might post a great recipe that we make every day here at the Rabbit Hole and

Organic Solutions. It is sweetened with dates and apple juice.
