Guest guest
Doc, When I take your echinacea plus - it tingles my tongue for about five or ten minutes. Which doesn't bother me. Howver, when I take the echinacea plus tincture that I made, my tongue is almost completely numb for about half and hour. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Tammi U. Guest guest
This is not unusual, and doesn't mean that one is less or more than the other. I've sometimes noticed this phenomenon using Echinacea from the same fields, but gotten at different times of the year. There is sometimes this difference even between plants in the same field and picked at the same time, and it is unexplainable. As long as you are consistent with your preparation, the tincture will be great!!!!! You always want your Echinacea to be "ORGANIC" or "WILDCRAFTED" and your tincturing jar to be filled at least 2/3'rds to 3/4'ers with plant matter. Also, if you are using a stronger alcohol mixture, the tingling effect can be shorter lived because it gets absorbed quicker. I don't think anything tastes quite as dramatic as putting the whole root in your mouth and just start chewing. Wow!!! That can knock your socks off and have your mouth tingling for up to an hour. We tend to never use less than 100 to 105 Proof Alcohol, and if you used 80 Proof, the absorbtion would not be as quick and the tingle might tend to last longer. Lots of factors ;-) Do it right though and don't worry about it. If you make it consistently, regardless of amount of "tingle", you'll have a product to be proud of and it will WORK.
