Guest guest
Hi Gina, My son was much as you describe. When it came down to us giving him meds and the school treating him as "special needs", we chose neither and pulled him out of school entirely. At home we gave him a constant, loving, supportive schedule and eliminated any "extras" in his food. The problem turned around 100%. I cannot suggest homeschooling and a completely stripped-down, natural diet enough. Both are enough to save your son from the insanity the school will want to put you guys through. My son is now 15, and doing fabulous. -Raine PiscesAngel7 wrote: Hello Everyone! I've posted about my son quite a few times in the past. I'm just at the end of my ropes at this point. He has trouble focusing and staying attentive in class and I have been to so many conferences over the years. Over the Summer he went for testing with the school and was eligible for a special program which allows him to be in a smaller class for Language Arts and Math with a teacher that specializes in Special Ed. My son is in 5th grade and started the Middle School. Only two weeks into the new school year and I already get a call that the teachers want to see me for a conference because they are concerned with his proformance/behavior. He forgets his books sometimes and really doesn't like studying. I am afraid that they will tell me to go to a doctor and we all know what that means......MEDS!! I refuse to drug my child. I have been giving him homeopathic drops from Newton Labs. But I guess they aren't helping enough. He also has trouble falling asleep at night. I don't know what else to do. All suggestions and help is greatly appreciated. ..
Guest guest
My husband has MS and has trouble with what he calls a 'foggy head' so i made him a small bottle with 5 drops each of Rosemary and Peppermint EO's he uses it as an inhaler whenever he is getting foggy and it clears his mind quite quickly now i don't claim this will help your son with his memory problems (forgetting his books and such) doug has mem problems too and nothing has seemed to help that yet but the other could sure help to clear his mind while in class....if they might frown on him having a bottle like that with him and 'snorting' it whenever he needs you could try and give him Peppermint gum....it wouldn't be AS effective but it could help a little Clair -- Version: 7.1.405 / Virus Database: 268.12.8/455 - Release 9/22/2006
Guest guest
Gina Some of the symptoms you describe sound a little like adrenal fatigue issues, although you son is a little young for that one. Google " adrenal fatigue " and check it out with your other observations. If that is a problem, you will see there are some herbal adaptogens that can help. Guest guest
Hi Gina, I just joined and have not read any of the other posts yet...I was wondering if you have tried omeg 3? There have been studies that show it helps with concentration..also there was a study that showed it helped children with depression and bi polar disorders. It is something that is missing in many diets. Found in oily fishes like salmon, sardines...there is some fact to the old saying that fish in brain food... I have started my teenagers on it..for about a week..my oldest son has a learning disorder..with a focus problem. I too did not want to put him on meds. Newstarget.com has some info on it. My boys have only been on it a week so the jury is out on it...but my husband and I are taking it too...just because of the health benefits I have read about and the fact that we do not eat alot of fish. Hope this helps... Laura herbal remedies , PiscesAngel7 wrote: > > Hello Everyone! > > I've posted about my son quite a few times in the past. I'm just at the end > of my ropes at this point. Guest guest
Hello Gina Osiyo Gina! Maybe you are going to the wrong kind doctor. When my son was in the sixth grade the teacher sent a note home saying she and the school psychologist recommended him on Ritalin. An associate of mine was a Psychiatrist and told me "absolutely not I want to do some tests on him and I will do it for free every Saturday morning. About 5 or 6 weeks went by and he said schedule a meeting with the teacher, school psychologist, school Principal, and me. Well he went into the room with them without me and wife. We could hear some loud talking but could not make out what. When that was over we went in and was told how my sons education would go from here. He was not hyperactive just a normal active boy, he had an IQ of 160+, he did have an auditory disability and needed us to get his attention before asking him to do anything. Wow what a change we noticed. Well the 6th grade teacher got her revenge by flunking him and making him repeat the 6th grade. He just turned 39, has a college degree and one son. Very well liked in all walks of his life. I cannot imagine what would have happened if we had just gone along with the BS degree psychologist and the teacher not liking him. When I was in the third grade I remember my teacher tying me in my desk with a rope so I would not bother the other kids because I was totally bored and finished my work three times faster than anyone else. I could read and remember to the consternation of the teacher who could not see a special learner. LoveBobAdageyudiStaya Udanvti
Guest guest
Hi Bob and Gina, My husband is a masters teacher of Special Education and I ask him about this. Here is what he said, in Oregon. He is licensed in other states but isn't familiar with the laws without looking them up. you almost always have to have a doctors referral when qualifying for Special Education Classes, they will also prescribe medication. Ignore it. Use the herbals as both of you already I'm sure. I lobbied against Ritalin many years back, bad drug and to think they gave it to small children made me sick. Many people are changing their thinking. Just because a doctor prescribes something does not mean you have to have the prescription filled. I recently received 2 prescriptions from my doctor and tossed them. Of course I ask him what are these for so it would simplify my looking up what I could take herbally to do the same thing. Blessings and much love and laughter. Micki
