Does anyone grow herbs or veggies inside as house plants? Or can anyone tell me what herbs and veggies are good for growing inside? I'm not much into basic plants except spider plants so figured this would be a good way to increase my house plant volume. Also what soil do you use to grow them best inside?

Plant some nasturtiums now from seed, tell the folks at the store that you want FULL SIZE nasturtiums and not those damned miniatures that they keep pushing off on us. Or if you know someone who has nasturtiums now in their yard and since Frost is not too far off, ask if you can transplant a couple into a pot. Bring these indoors and keep in sunny window, when it gets close to Frost. I use the nasturtium leaves in salads or on BLT in place of lettuce. It takes like watercress with a pleasant peppery taste. I have a large, low, flat pot of nasturtiums that I planted with a view towards moving inside. God planted some Woodsorrel and a Purslane in that same pot, that is they sprung up as weeds --but edible weeds. So when I bring the pot in, it will have 3 garden salad plants: nasturtium, purslane, and oxalis/woodsorrel.

There is a website named TheAerogarden.com that has an inside plant grower. You could check it out. Joy D.

Every fall I take a big pot and fill it with a bunch of my favorite

cullinary herbs..basil, thyme, oregano, sage...and bring it inside for

the winter. I have fresh herbs all winter! I use organic potting soil

and mix it with some of my own compost.

It's a great way to extend my gardening bug!
