I got my teeth cleaned this morning along with x-rays and since I got back I have this AWFUL taste in my mouth! It tastes kind of like bad breath smells if you know what I mean. Some things i'm eating don't taste all that great including my green dragon i'm drinking right now-tastes terrible. Also I keep smelling awful smells and have a little nasal drip-maybe from being cold...but is this normal after a dental cleaning? I don't recall this happening before...

Marci,

Was it a regular cleaning or a deep cleaning (scaling) that also involved septicane (the local anithesia used by dentists). The septicane tastes aweful and can leave a taste in your mouth for some time.

I myself have been having quite a bit of dental work lately (after not having dental insurance for over 20 years) and had my entire mouth scaled and had a lot of septicane (I metabolize it very quickly and it takes at least twice as much to numb me in the first place). Some of it even dripped out of the needle on to my tongue which is how I know how awful it tastes. Everything tasted funny for about 8 - 12 hours afterward.

If you did have any of the septicane I would advise some cleansing (as soon as you know you are finished with the work), especially the liver and kidneys (though a full body would be good).

hope this helps some.

Hugs,

Willow
