Marsha. I live in Arizona. Do you think these oranges will grow here. We have several different citrus growing here. I would love some seeds. Let me know if you need any money. Also, I don't think I have eaten these oranges. Are they sweet?

Surely you can do a quick Google check and see that "Osage Orange" is not an orange. The "hedge apples" are more the size of a cantelope, look vaguely like a pimpled cabbage, are very firm, have a milky latex, and are not edible. More likely they are are mildly poisonous to humans. Remember, the point of conversation with them is that some folks believe that they repel spiders and insects. And some folks place them under floorboards, in crawlspaces, etc. Over the course of many years, I have seen no purpose whatsoever (but no harm done either) in trying to use these wacky "fruits" to repel anything. Again, the Hedge Apple is a large, very robust tree that grows in the Midwest. Unless you are in your teens or 20s, I would think it a waste of time to plant the tree in your yard, and wait (many years) for it to produce Hedge Apples. What is even more comical is that some of these trees will produce hundreds of these big clunky "hedge apples". For older homegrowners, it is a giant chore to clean up that mess. So, just imagine a kid in his 20s planting some of these trees, then 40 years goes by, and the "kid" (now an old man or woman) has to spend hours each Fall trying to clean up that huge pile of "apples".

Herbal Remedies - Re: Osage Orange - Bois D'arc

I will be happy to send you some seeds as soon as they start dropping. I have found they don't germinate well if they don't drop first. I can send them to you and won't worry about postage unless you want a large amount, then I will let you know what the postage is. I have about 7 trees so it should not be a problem, Just let me know, Marsha
