Guest guest
Very Interesting !!! Yep the FDA is NOT our friend , they cannot disallow us USING it as a sweetener, they just don't allow it to be added to our foods. I grow the stuff, in fact just harvested last night, most of it has already been dried. The rest will be fresh tinctured as soon as I get off this puter. LOL I use Stevia in everything that needs to be sweetened. Thanks for the info. zoe Sunday, September 10, 2006, 10:58:18 AM, you wrote: > I always look at labels. I make my own guacamole, but I will start looking at prepared products. As for margarine and butter, I use only olive oil and butter. My mom used margarine for ever and finally switched to butter 10 years ago. As a chemist, I can tell you the following: 1) Margarine is not food and its breakdown products are dangerous. 2) Aspartame and sucralose (and probably acesulfame K) are nasty chemicals. Sucralose (known as splenda) is chlorinated sugar. 3) MSG is a salt of a needed amino acid. but when you take glutamine in excess of what is present naturally you are askind for trouble. 4) STEVIA is a natural plant extract which is used as a sweetner in Japan. You can buy it at health food stores, but the FDA says it cannot be used as a sweetner.
