Guest guest
Zoe I learned in the orient to soak peeled garlic in soy sauce with a little sugar. That makes it easier on the taste buds and stomach. I have read that you can get salmonella poisoning from garilc soaked in oil. I think it would be impossible to get germs from galic soaked in vinegar. My guess is the color change is probably a chemical reaction from the sulfur in garlic with the vinegar. Guest guest
Yes apparently this is a fairly common phenomenon- I searched and found the same article tony was referring to. I had not heard about salmonella but Had heard that botulism can occur unless kept refrigerated which is why I put mine in vinegar- I use the Olive Oil if its going to be dropped in my ear, but not eaten. Thank you for your response zoe Thursday, September 7, 2006, 12:55:10 PM, you wrote: > Zoe I learned in the orient to soak peeled garlic in > soy sauce with a little sugar. Guest guest
I beg to differ on this one since Garlic is used as a major handling for Salmonella. The problem with putting Garlic in Oil is the moisture in the clove. Water and Oil don't mix. If you're going to put Garlic in Olive Oil such as when you make the Ear Formula, you ALWAYS want to used dried Garlic. It must be thoroughly dehydrated.
