I went to a naturopath last week, and she recommended castor

oil (covered with cotton socks) for the deep cracks in my heels. In 2 days of

this treatment, I had such remarkable improvement.

Hi, I'm a lurker here, but HAD to ask this because my heels are

deeply cracked also, and Nothing i've tried has helped. I'm

breastfeeding, and wonder if Castor oil is safe to use??? I'm VERY

cautious about anything that I take, or put on my skin.

Thanks!

Melanie

The castor oil you buy at Walmart is good either external or internal. Reading the newspaper doctor columns (I like that Dr Gott who is "coming around" to alternative therapies as he finishes up his career), there is much mention of using castor oil to put on arthritic joints. Internal use of store-bought castor oil generally means: take a teaspoon occasionally to use as a laxative effect. Of course, that should only be very occasionally. Also, the garden plant that you grow, that Castor Bean is poison and no part of it should be taken internally. But, if you think you are allergic to anything, I would suggest putting only a tiny dab on some part of your skin and watching a few days to see if you have allergic reaction. Btw, I'm guessing that you may be Blood Type O and with dry skin and underactive thyroid. Just a guess. God Bless.

Can very dry cracked skin especially on the heels be due to parasitic infestation with in the body generally?

I know that due to gravity a lot of the toxins in our body get sent downwards and end up in our feet..shiny skin is alos a sign of a build up of acid in the skin.

what does castor oil actually do to the skin to alleviate the dryness and cracking . heel cracks and dry skin may also be due to a clogged up lymphatic system.

WOW this is amazing. I was just reading all of the posts on cracked heels.

I only have one (which by the way is better later) and I am type O and

have hashimoto's disease which is hypothyroidism to the max.

Tell me how you came to this conclustion!!!

I used to have very deep cracks in my heels and thick calluses on the

big toe side of the ball of my foot.

I have been taking Udo's Perfected Blend oil for some years now and the

cracks and calluses have completely disappeared.

Dr. Udo Erasmus says that the skin is the indicator to use to determine

if you are getting enough Omega 3 and Omega 6 oils. He lives in Canada

and takes I think he said 4 Tbs a day in the winter and 2 tbs a day in

the summmer. The skin is the last to get the oil and the first to dry

out due to exposure. So if your skin is not dry and you don't have

cracks in your feet and calluses, you are getting enough Udo's oil or

Omega 3 and Omega 6.

I've talked to other people who have had success with this as well.

It's a rather long process but it is also an indicator of overall

health when there is enough oil to handle the skin.

Melanie,

I’m sorry that I don’t know about castor oil and

pregnancy. Maybe others on this loop do.

I also want to mention that 25 years ago I had planter’s

warts on the bottom of my feet. My mom used to take me to the doctor to have

them burned out (argh!), but they always grew back. Then I did the castor oil

with a white sock every night for 2 weeks, and not only did they go away, but

they have never come back. The warts took longer to respond to the castor oil

than the cracked heels do.

Here is an interesting article on castor oil, more in

regards to lymphatic congestion: http://www.electroherbalism.com/Naturopathy/Therapies/Diet/FatsandOils/CastorOil.htm

This is an old Edgar Cayce remedy. He used Castor Oil for various and sundry things, sometimes in conjunction with a camphorated oil.
