FRESH RAW pineapple juice. If you have a juicer, refrigerate the pineapple first and then juice it!Dawn <morningrisefarm wrote: Hi All,first off, thanks for all the input that I get to read every day. And thanks for being there and so caring. My daughter (18 years old) just had her tonsils out yesterday and I am wondering if anyone has any helpful suggestions to ease the swelling in her throat. Isn't the acid in the pineapple gonna hurt her throat after surgery?

I just read in "The herbal medicine-maker's handbook" by James Green, about Herb Jello. And although the jello contained sugar, he felt the medicine in the herb was more important than the little sugar in the jello box. Anyway, his recipe was 1/4 box of lime jellow, 1/4 cup of boiling water, 1 oz of herb tincture (he used feverfew) and 1 oz of cold water. His theory was that sick children would eat the jello easier than taking the tincture straight.

The jello may be easier for your daughter to swallow down her tender throat, and maybe white willow or st. johns wort may be a good herb to start with.

Just a thought..... .

It is not that acidic. The bromelian (naturally occuring enzyme) will reduce swelling.Kathi Garrison <kathi wrote: Isn't the acid in the pineapple gonna hurt her throat after surgery? herbal remedies
