speed up healing after surgery for preemie infant

Greetings All,

 

I'm new to the group. I joined because I had a premature infant in April and I want to use herbs, natural medicine and whole foods to help him become a big, strong healthy boy. He is set to have surgery on Aug. 28 for repair of a left inguinal hernia and hypospadias (a birth defect of the penis). I wanted to know if I can give him mega doses of vitamin C to help speed up healing. I remember Dr. Andrew Weil's website or newsletter saying that surgery patients who had Vitamin C in their IV drips healed faster. My son is 4 months chronological age, but his adjusted age for prematurity and for the appropriateness of surgery is 1 month old.
