Hi Freinds I keep my apartment neat & clean but I still get these ugly cockroaches, about one per week in the summer and less in the winter. Does anybody have an herbal cure for them? Blue

Blue,

Here in Las Vegas we have huge ones from all the swimming pools. On the TV news they said to fill a glass jar with a big mouth with a cup or two of coffee & the grounds, prop it up against the wall & they will find it & drop in for a drink & drown. It works great!! We got rid of our bug guy by doing this !!

Hiya Blue,

Despite the stigma, rest assured that roaches by no means indicate you

are dirty!

That being said, the best herbal cure I can recommend is a good cat. :-)

Also you can make roach poison by mixing Boric Acid and sugar. I'd also

throw in some Diatomaceous Earth for extra killing power. Keep this mix

away from kids and pets.

Hope this helps. Roaches are the pits.

June,

I have not had a problem with ants here in Vegas, but in California they were a problem. At that time I was not to involved in learning about natural ways to rid them. I used Belach, one day my mom had left a banana peel on the kitchen counter & we came home from church & the WHOLE counter was covered. We washed them down the sink & found the entery point & put bleach along the area. It worked beautifully!! somewhere I have a book on natural gardening that may have an answer. I'll look for it & sned you info.

The best cockroach killer I have used is a mixture of 50% boric acid(Wal-Mart Pharmacy) and 50% granulated white sugar. This is a relatiely safe method but it should be piled(tablespoon in a jar lid) in areas where pets and infants/children can't get to it. It also seems to kill ants. PA

Hiya Tina,

I put the mixture in cracks or places I've seen roaches where my cats

can't stick their ever-inquisitive noses. They are great roachers, but

sometimes lazy and don't ensure the bugs are dead.

I've read that others do put it in jars with child/pet-proof lids.

Ultimately you want the roaches to access the poison, but not those

creatures loved by you.

I've been using a mix of Borax and granulated molasses in my garage

with great results. I spread it in cracks and under the fridge with

obvious success. No harm to my cats (who will hunt walking/living

roaches) but accessible to the bugs in the areas they like to hang out.
