Guest guest
Speaking of Omega 3s....My 13 yo son was diagnosed with epilepsy 18 mos ago. He has absence seizures during the day, and "night terrors" (I don't know what kind of seizure that is exactly) when he is just a little bit ill. He's had these for most of his life, but we didn't know what we were dealing with until just recently. Our homeopath has him on omega 3/6 , li-zyme at night, intrinsic b12 in the morning, and other numerous supplements for his immune system. My question is...will these really help? How does puberty affect seizures? Is there anything else I can do? Anna - Ann Wooledge herbal remedies Wednesday, August 09, 2006 4:07 PM RE: Herbal Remedies - Re: Ear infection, Please help! Hi Shelly - just wanted to add about "intense" and "allergies" - children, adults - everyone -needs to be taking Omega 3 supplements. Much new plus old research (i.e., 2001) shows that Omega 3's are very beneficial for mood, behavior, brain health in general. Especially important for pregnant women to be taking them. The brian and spinal cord are made up of the Omega 3's and we simply don't get enough in our diet anymore. Besides - it can't hurt to try them. Consumerlab.com did a study recently and almost all of the supplements they tested were free of contaminants that you might expect (mercury, PCB's) from fish oils. Guest guest
My sister has had epilepsy almost all her life. She went from pettit mall to grand mall siezures when she hit puberty. She is close to 50 years old now. I know she has made some major changes in her diet that has helped. However, I know that she keeps lobelia handy to stop her siezures - and it does work. I have seen it in action. Uses an eye dropper to put it on her tounge - Stops the siezure IMMEDIATLY. Carrol AnnaY wrote: Speaking of Omega 3s....My 13 yo son was diagnosed with epilepsy 18 mos ago. Guest guest
In my humble opinion and from what I've read - yes, it should help. Seizures are difficult and so different in each person. As I said before, it is most certainly worth trying. As far as puberty, I can only take a fairly educated guess that since hormones affect us on so many different levels, that since his hormones are changing, this could certainly affect anything else going on with him healthwise. I would also guess that for a 13 year old this has to be affecting his mood and emotions since this is a time when body self image is so very important. The Omega 3's are very helpful for any depression issues. Ann annrn
Guest guest
I know a cat can't be compared to a human being, but i had a cat who suffered from seizures. My homeopathic vet instructed me to give her rescue remedy each time she seized. Brought her right out of it. great stuff. > > Carrol <seafish > 2006/08/10 Thu AM 12:39:46 EDT > herbal remedies > Re: Herbal Remedies - Fish Oils and Epilepsy > > My sister has had epilepsy almost all her life. Guest guest
Yes, Lobelia definitely helps stop a seizure GinaCarrol <seafish wrote: My sister has had epilepsy almost all her life. You can make your own or purchase it from Doc. I'm using it and it's good stuff. I stopped taking my seizure meds because I don't think I have epilepsy anymore. My lifestyle has helped me heal from many things. Just in case I use the Lobelia tincture if I feel dizzy or if I get wheezy, I also have asthma and Lobelia works well for this also. Love and blessings. Micki
Guest guest
Anna, I have had occasional grand mal seizures when I'm falling asleep. It always gets worse when I do something healthy for a while (toxins trying to come out of my system) so this time I am taking lobelia each night before I lay down. I've been on the cleanse now and ready to do the Liver bomb tonight and so far not a wisper of a seizure. That's a huge milestone for me. I reccomend a cleanse with lobelia for your son. On another list I was on for epilepsy several people were able to control their seizures with B vitamins and Fish oils. I figure this is the direction your homeopath is trying. It won't hurn and it might work! But everyone is different. Scullcap has stopped my seizures - but scullcap also messes with my hormones and makes it difficult to think. I was loopy on Scullcap - life of the party if you get my meaning... It would have been a disaster if I were in school on that stuff... and you don't want a kid learning to have fun with 'herbs'! Lobelia stops my seizure activity with just a small dose (half dropper) and this does not effect me otherwise. If I would ever need to take a larger dose (full dropper) I would use a little ginger to settle the stomach. Lobelia can also calm you and help you get to sleep. I highly recommend it.
