Guest guest
My 6 year old son has been suffering with an ear infection for three days now. I have tried everything I know that has worked before. He is still in horrid pain and miserable. I candled his ear Saturday night and put garlic and willow drops in his ear. Sunday a.m. he was still hurting, so i candled again and again added garlic/willow drops. In the afternoon, I tried grapefuit extract with tea tree oil drops. Garlic drops in the evening as well as applying heat from a heating pad. He's still miserable and now is refusing to let me put drops in his ear. I'm now giving him a warm herbal tea (Gypsy Cold, Trad. Med.) I don't have Colloidal silver or I would try that. I don't have money to buy anything else. He is in such pain... I really don't want to take him to the Dr., but don't know what else to do. Please, what else can I do???? Thank you!!!! Shelly
Guest guest
Dear Shelly, You say these things " worked before " . I would suspect that he needs to do some detoxing or sugar or some other food is lowering his immunity or shutting down his immune system. Make sure he's getting no form of processed sugar and have him eat as many raw foods as possible. You can take raw garlic, peel it, slice it in half, dip it in olive oil and him swallow several or as Doc would say " stick it up where the sun don't shine " . Garlic is excellent as a suppository. If he is able to swallow some be sure he has something in his stomach so it won't upset his stomach. If you have Echinacea or Total Tonic, I would have him take some every hour in juice until he feels better. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Shelly - I'd try putting the tea tree oil (2 drops) mixed with abour a tsp of olive oil - just a few drops onto a cotton ball and placing in his ear for a couple of hours maybe three times a day. I realize at 6 he may not let you leave them in, but maybe at least through the night. Tea Tree has a lot of backup research saying this method works. I know it hurts when our little ones (or even our big ones) hurt. Hang in there - maybe a night lavender bath for you! Hope that helps. Guest guest
I have found that (5 children and me) different things work for different problems in the ear. If there is wax build up and itching or pain use peroxide with olive oil lay still for a while and soak lying down in the bath this will unclog the ear! Otherwise those swimmers ear formulas with glycerin work great to dry the ear and clean out bacteria-- I have had great success using these herbal remedies [herbal remedies ] On Behalf Of violet32294 Tuesday, August 08, 2006 11:01 AM herbal remedies Re: RE: Herbal Remedies - Ear infection, Please help! Guest guest
Also Shelly, ask him if anything is upsetting him and whatever it is he comes up with (if he does) help him handle it one way or another. If he's upset about a kid at school, address the issue from his way of looking at it and help him decide how to solve it. You notice HE is solving it. Not you. Did he have an upset with a friend, mom, dad, anyone? Is anyone making less of him? Anyone teasing him? etc. Valorie - valorieshillington herbal remedies Monday, August 07, 2006 5:38 PM Herbal Remedies - Re: Ear infection, Please help! Guest guest
Wow! Thanks to everyone who helped me with this. It really has helped. I chose to go with olive oil with tea tree oil as that is what I have on hand. He feels much better this a.m. I am gradually building up my supplies and will pick up other items that were mentioned as I can afford them. Also, Valorie, thank you for the extra thoughts. He hasn't had any upsets, but he is a rather intense child and does take things very personally. He has been diagnosed with allergies (dust mites, cats and dogs) and asthma. He is one of the reasons we are trying to go more natural. I don't see the meds helping at all. He's so senstive that every time I give him them, his behaviors get out of hand. He also " reacts " to red dye. Any thoughts on how to treat the asthma and allergies would be appreciated. We have eliminated most processed foods over the last year along with much of the sugar. (very hard with 2 kids) It's hard though as we're on a tight budget. We also live over 30 minutes from the nearest decent health food store. I try to change one or 2 things at time as we can afford. The kids don't seem to notice it as much that way. My husband and I are planning on doing a cleanse soon. Could i do this with my son too? Thank you all again for your help!!! Guest guest
Shelly, Have you listened to Doc's CD where he talks a bit about Asthma? We have a very strong Lobelia tincture that relaxes the body and opens all the air passages so that more oxygen is available. It is important to have a strong formula. Many on the market are weak and will not do the trick. This is true of most of the tinctures out there. Either make your own per our guidelines or buy it from us. Lobelia is one of our two most popular emergency tictures for helping with and handling Asthma attacks. Cayenne is the other one to bring people out of strokes and heart attacks. It opens or expands veins and arteries so that more blood gets to the brain and heart instantly. I will post Doc's article entitled Dwindling Spiral of Disease for those of you who have not read it. I think this will completely answer your question, Shelly. Guest guest
Hi Shelly - just wanted to add about "intense" and "allergies" - children, adults - everyone -needs to be taking Omega 3 supplements. Much new plus old research (i.e., 2001) shows that Omega 3's are very beneficial for mood, behavior, brain health in general. Especially important for pregnant women to be taking them. The brian and spinal cord are made up of the Omega 3's and we simply don't get enough in our diet anymore. Besides - it can't hurt to try them. Consumerlab.com did a study recently and almost all of the supplements they tested were free of contaminants that you might expect (mercury, PCB's) from fish oils. Guest guest
To understand what goes on with the body re asthma and allergies, a good book is "The Yeast Connection" by Dr. Crook. You can find it at the library. Easy reading. Acidophilous is a very important supplement to take to get the intestinal flora in the right balance. Also cut out sugars, dairy, and a few other food items. You can read this book to get more detail. If you have more questions, I've dealt with this problem since I was a child, and now am 58 yrs.
