Guest guest
We knocked out our first flea experience within days by doing the following; Treated carpets with a baking soda/tea tree oil/lavender oil mixture. Lock the cats up for this as they are highly sensitive to many EOs. We left it on the carpet for 1 1/2 hours, then vacuumed well. Sprayed the dog with a lavender oil/tea tree oil/eucalyptus oil and water mix before going outside, and upon coming in. (Be careful on the potency as their noses are very sensitive.) Washed the dog every few days with a drop or two of lavender EO in the water. Good for flea repellent and aids in healing existing bites. Feed both dog and cats a supplement of: 1 1/2 c nutritional yeast, 1/4 c kelp, 1 c lecithin, 2 c wheat bran, 2 c bone meal. (Daily: 1 ts in wet food for two cats, 1 TB for the dog) This makes them very undesirable to fleas from the inside out, and gives them a gorgeous coat to boot! Our dog was acting as though she were in mortal pain and we really thought something serious was wrong with her. She whined and was uncomfortablefor days, which is totally out of character for her. Turns out she had fleas. A very minor case- I only saw 5 on her total. But these creatures make our pets soooo miserable, and can move into our homes quite quickly so it's best to act upon the first sight of them. Now if anyone can help me rid our home of ants... Cinnamon helps to repel them from specific areas, Peppermint soap and Cayenne tincture kills them on contact, and Elmer's glue takes care of existing entrances, but still they come in droves.... sigh -Raine Tori wrote: Eucalyptus oil and wintergreen oil work well to rid pets, carpets, furniture of fleas and keep them away. --

Guest guest
Hiya Dave, I took about 1 c baking soda, added 20 drops tea tree and 15 drops lavender oils. Mixed well. Sprinkled it on the carpet, taking care to get around the doorways thoroughly. Left it on for an hour and a half. (Keeping the cats locked well away from the treated area. If you want to do your whole house, I suggest treating different areas at a time, moving the cats around.) Vacuumed very well. There is a residue, and a smell from the oils (clean smelling), but from observing my own pets its slight enough not to cause irritation. Hope this is helpful. Do a search on "oils + fleas + your specific pet species", and you will likely find many more ideas/recipes. -Raine Dave wrote: At 04:07 AM 8/4/2006, you wrote: We knocked out our first flea experience within days by doing the following; Treated carpets with a baking soda/tea tree oil/lavender oil mixture.
