Guest guest
My mother has a bad hacking cough and she cannot get to sleep. She has pneumonia and they told her that if she continued to cough as hard as she's been doing, she'll have to be hospitalized. Codiene cough syrup is what they prescribed, but that isn't doing a thing for her. Is there anything that can help stop the coughing or at least make it a lighter cough? Guest guest
Codeine, hydrocodone, and tussionex pearles are all prescribed freely to help with cough from the allopathic world. I prefer to not use narcotics or medicines if at all possible myself. Rosemary Gladstar has a good recipe for cough and sore throat that I have found quite helpful. It is in her book “The Family Herbal” on page 96. I find that most of the people who cough, also develop a sore throat because of the irritation to the throat, and bronchial airways. When I treat a cough, I treat the whole process, not just the cough, as pneumonia certainly can be serious. Good luck!
