I heard warmed olive oil & cloves either whole or ground & put on

cotton ball & inserted in the ear, will help a earache. Has anyone else

ever heard of this? Right now I am going to try olive oil & garlic. I

dont have mullein. Will this still be potent enough to work?

I've always used garlic oil and olive oil together (purchased) for the handful of times my kids needed it. Two drops in the affected ear at night, and the next morning, the earache is gone. If it's not gone, then it's not an infection; it's allergies.

We use garlic oil for earaches and find that it helps. Last winter I

had strep in one tonsil & one ear. Unimaginably painful earache. I

sliced a clove of garlic small enough to wrap in a thin layer of gauze

and stuck it in my ear for 10 - 15 minutes a few times a day. I had

heard that garlic will burn the skin so I didn't keep it in there long.

It did cause the skin to dry and a thin layer of skin peeled off, but

that part didn't hurt. After inserting the garlic I could imediately

taste it in my throat. I also noticed the earache went away when I

exercised - I almost wore myself out trying to keep the pain away. :0)

But, the garlic did work during the time I had it in.

I've not heard about cloves...

right now St Johns wort is in bloom, if you pick the yellow heads and cover them in olive oil, set aside until the oil turns red, drain well, you can bottle and use this, with Lavender essential oil mixed in for ear infections.

Nope! You want to dry out the St. Johns Wort flowers before you mix them in a menstruum of any kind of oil.

Last time I checked, Oil and Water (moisture) don't mix.

You always use dried herbs when you mix with an oil or your mixture will mold and go bad.

I'm sorry for such a late response. But what we use with huge

success is an onion. You grate the onion for the juice, warm it up

a little and put in ear. Many cases this will make the pain go away

just about immediately. We've also done the olive oil and garlic

juice too. It works really well. Garlic is an natural antibiotic

so it should. My mom put the onion juice in her ear one time after

suffering from an earache. The next morning she had a huge piece of

wax pop right out. The ache went away. Others have baked an onion

and while it was still warm placed it on the ear and keep in there

and this also helps with the pain. I've never tried this since the

other was so successful. When my 13 year old son was about 6 or 7

he use to get ear pain. I got a piece of bread, spread butter on it

and then grated some garlic on it. He would eat it right up. The

pain would go away. So every once in a while he would say he had an

earache and ask for a garlic sandwich and he'd eat it right up. He

did this for about a year and a half, then he just doesn't have

earaches any more. Plus, he didn't enjoy the taste of garlic unless

he had an earache. The body always tells us what we need. Pretty

cool.
