HI,

My name is Tonya and I am new to the group. I have been experimenting with essential oils and have personally found them to be quite effective. I, too, have had painful lumps in my underarms. I experimeted with massaging lemongrass oil there. The next day, the lumps and the pain were gone.

Just curious, does anyone know about carrier oils. What are the names of some of them and how are they supposed to be used?

Thanks,

Tonya

Carrier oils are oils such as sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, olive oil, and more (usually cold pressed veggie oils)...the type of carrier oil that you use can affect how it works theraputically....so do some research on them...you add essential oils to these oils, as direct use of these oils is sometimes not necessary or advised (some of them can burn you - such as cinnamon oil)....so you add the number of drops that you wish to your carrier oil and store it in the blue or amber glass bottles...a great way to use aromatherapy and massage...I even experiment w/ my own fragrance oils...the carrier oils allow the essential oils to be absorbed into the skin...also the carrier oils do not evaporate like essential oils do......

Hi Gabriele,

The reason I say it's a "good" thing for lymph nodes to be swollen is

because it means they are dealing with toxins. More correctly, a

swollen node tells us our system is struggling with too many

toxins. This is essential information, and if we're paying attention we

can adjust what we're doing accordingly. We can increase water

consumption, improve our diet, ensure we're getting enough exercise to

aid the system, etc....

I wasn't clear enough in my first post. Sorry about that.

I dont use carrier oils on my pits for I dont want greasy clothes.

I use the oil straight. For other parts of my body, jojoba oil is

great.

Georgia is right. Most all essential oils cannot be used neat.

Lavender and tea tree can be used without a carrier for most skin

types.

If you don't want to use a carrier oil for your eo's, maybe you can

try pure witch hazel (not with alcohol). Shake before using and

apply with cotton or use an atomizer.

Dear Tonya,

Two of your best carrier oils are Jojoba and Olive Oil.

Olive Oil will go rancid over a period of time whereas Jojoba will not as it has its own natural preservatives.
