Confused about Wild Yam

Ok, let me get this straight: 1. If I switched over to wild yam from my old birth control pills, how would I know that I am getting 100% effectiveness against pregnancies? 2. Is there any side effects? 3. Can I buy the capsule form in a health food store? 4. If I just use wild yam as a birth control method (since I'm in a monogamous relationship) and no other methods along with it, there's a guarantee of not getting pregnant? I am currently on Ortho pills & tried almost every pill on the market, and I HATE them! The harmful things it does to the body I can't stand it. Leann

Tammi U.Nothing is 100% effective. Even the pills. I'm afraid I know about that, too. I was taking the pill (and using condoms) when I became pregnant with my first son.

2. Is there any side effects?Tammi U.

So far, I have not had any. I've been taking it for a year now. Granted, I've been taking it at 1/4 the dosage. It will be interesting to see what happens when I increase my dosage.

Leann:

3. Can I buy the capsule form in a health food store?Tammi U.

Yes, but as someone pointed out it is cheaper to encapsulate it yourself. They also pointed out that it should be encapsulated fresh, so GNC would be out. I've used them, but with the new information, I am swithing to doing them myself.

Tammi U.Again, there are no garauntees. I became pregnant using condoms and birth controls with my first child and my fourth child was concieved after my husband had had a vasectomy and I was still breastfeeding. Howver, I may be a slight anomally and exception to the rules ;-)

I do have to agree with Doc, it is the safest and most effective natural birth control method. Native American Indians have been using this stuff way before " the pill " ever came on the scene.

Tammi U.

I'm curious too! I'm 36 and haven't taken birth control since turning

35 and at that time I was on the depo shot and it was horrible -

weight gain, no period at all, water retention, skin problems. I

stopped it because I found out my family history included blood clots,

stroke, etc. and it worried me. So now I'm just *hoping* and *praying*

I don't become pregnant. I go by my cycle and try to guess when I'm

ovulatig but it seems to change a lot for me. I'm married and already

have 3 kids along with 4 stepkids so I REALLY don't want anymore

kiddos!

Any info on this would help!!

Thanks,

Tori

Herbal Remedies - Confused about Wild Yam

Ok, let me get this straight:

1. If I switched over to wild yam from my old birth control pills, how would I know that I am getting 100% effectiveness against pregnancies?

You don't 100%. As already discussed, there is no 100% guarantee on any program including the pill and even a vasectomy. But the odds are excellent and as good as any other method.

2. Is there any side effects?

Good Health ;-)

3. Can I buy the capsule form in a health food store?

Not sure. I've always made my own for my clients and it was in tincture form.

4. If I just use wild yam as a birth control method (since I'm in a monogamous relationship) and no other methods along with it, there's a guarantee of not getting pregnant?

No as mentioned above!!! It is just healthier for you.

I am currently on Ortho pills & tried almost every pill on the market, and I HATE them! The harmful things it does to the body I can't stand it.

**i also stopped taking birth control recently (i'm 36 also) and i

now take my temperature upon waking (before even moving!) and know

exactly when i ovulate. i've never felt so in tune with my body

since going " organic " and getting off all pharms...

after a few months of charting your waking temp (i found and printed

charts online searching fertility) you really get a feel for what's

going on.**
