Guest guest
Thank you, Vicki, this is good to know. However, for MANY reasons, the ONLY healthy milk is raw milk from pastured cows or goats with no additives at all. And milk in its pure form is tremedously healthy for all. We drink it all the time with no ill effects. It's like a totally different food from pasteurized, homogenized milk from sick animals with added " nutrients, " antibiotics, and hormones. I highly recommend the book NOURISHING TRADITIONS by Sally Fallon, which can be purchased here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0967089735/002-0897091-4575269?v=glance & n=2 83155 It gives the true and complete story on milk and many other vital subjects. Guest guest
You should call the company that makes your supplement. From what I read, not all Vitamin D is animal - but it is in milk because the other source gives milk a bad taste. I had to call many companies to find out their source of citric acid (many are corn based) when I discovered my newborn had corn allergies, so companies can give you those answers, even if they have to do a little searching - which they were very prompt to do for me. herbal remedies , " Rachel Mason " <groups wrote: > > So how would this work with vitamin D supplements? She really hits the nail on the head with the processing industry. I love the appendixes too. 5 stars for Sally. Another good book on this subject is full moon feast by Jessica Prentice. She cooks by what is season as our ancestors did. It is really interesting. A few of the recipes are in NT as well, but I really enjoy her writing style. Well worth it. There are also several that discuss this type of diet and the books as well. Jessica's website is www.wisefoodways.com Another good book is Eat Fat, Lose Fat by Mary Enig Melanie
Guest guest
Except for one problem. Cow's milk is Acid Ash. Goat's milk is Alkaline. Too much Cow's milk, cheese, butter, etc. if taking in large enough quantities WILL create ACIDOSIS even if it is Organic and all RAW. Best is Goat's Milk if you're going to go that route. I never drink Cow's Milk or eat any of the byproducts anymore. The negatives far outweigh the Positives. Guest guest
Doc, I don't get it. How can cow's milk be acidic and goat's milk be alkaline? What benifits would a baby cow get from an acidic diet? Cows and goats are both plant eaters so it just doesn't make any sense to me. Guest guest
Dear Tom, Are you trying to tell me that Goats and Cows are the same??? Elephants are plant eaters as well, but there's many differences between them and Cows. There is only one animal besides humans where the milk is alkaline ash, and that is Goats. Guest guest
Actually, Sheep's milk is also alkaline, but since I've not heard of anyone here in the States drinking it, I didn't bring it up. It is closer to human and goat's milk. Sorry if this adds confusion, but Sheep's milk is one more exception. Guest guest
Dear Tammi, No, the cheese making process should not ruin it or change the pH of the ash. The only milk products I'd approve of would be these two: Goat and Sheep.
