Childhood vacs

My dtr is expecting soon and since this

subject has come up, I am concerned about the vacs they want to give the kids.

Will my dtr legally be able to refuse these vacs or will the docs liken the

refusal to child neglect? And most vacs are ‘required’ to enter

school, how does one handle that??

Since she also wants to deliver in the

hospital, are there any other things we need to be aware of that they may give

the baby without express parental permission???

Also, my dog received a rabies vac when

she was a pup, and my homeopath vet says that the fly bite seizures she has now

is a result of that vac. Ugh!!

Thanks,

Kathy

Dear

Jamie,

Not

toooo volatile for HR. ;-)

I

recommend skipping the Vaccines altogether.

I've

had to handle far tooooo many autism cases in children as a result of them.

Skip

'em all and just feed your kids right interspersed with highest quality herbal

Herbal

Remedies - So what is really necissary?? Attn: Doc

I am planning on making an appointment for my two small children here

in the next week or so with a new pediatrician. It has been a while

since their last ped. visit. I have become slightly aware that some

vaccines arent necissary, and their is so much conflicting information

out there, that I dont have time to go through it all. I also know

there is BIG debate about being " responsible parents " vs. side

effects.

Because the issue of their immunization records will come up (which

the one is sooo " behind " in), I need some information about which

vaccines are REALLY necissary and which are not. I would especially

like Doc.'s input on this. Another reason is that we are expecting

again this September and I have heard people talk unfavorably of the

vit. K. I don't want to appear completely ignorant, but nothing is out

there to " prove " or regulate what information goes on these sites.

Can someone give me some GOOD information (websites, books etc), or

arguments, personal experiences, and such about this subject? Hope

this isn't an extremely volitle subject.

TIA

I did homebirth, so can't tell you what the dr's do at hospitals, but

as far as schooling, there are usually ways to get out of it,

although in some states it is more difficult. There are Medical

Exemptions, Religious Exemptions and Philosophical Exemptions - but

again, they vary by state.

" What Every Parent Should Know About Childhood Immunization " by Jamie

Murphy is a good book with " how-to's " on getting exemptions. Although

it was 1st printed in 1993 so won't have the latest state

requirements, it does give good advise on how to comply with school

requirements without getting vaccinations.

If your daughter is as concerned as you are, she should check with

her doctor ahead of time about what they do to newborns and have

everything discussed and in the records well before the baby is born.

Check into the hospitals requirements, too. Mom & Dad should know

their rights regarding vaccinations so they won't be intimidated by

those who think it is child neglect.

Wellllllllllllll, let me put it this way hon.

The one state where they might actually take your children away from you if you refuse vaccinations is Illinois. This state government is nuts and is completely owned by Big Pharma. In this case, rather than trying to fight the system, the only solution would be to move to a saner state like Montana or New Mexico or Idaho. Many other states, like UT or Florida have religious exemptions that can be taken advantage of.

When I get into situations like this, I puff up like a Blow Fish and get very uppity about it all. If that doesn't work (and it usually does ;), your other options are to go legal and really pull in an attorney who's not afraid to take on the system or move. That's about it. Don't be afraid to make a noise about this, as it is your child's health and future that is at stake here.

Then there's the subject of education and the quality of American Schools nowadays. But that IS another topic. I always recommend home schooling. Always!!!

Hi Kathy,

Besides what Doc said, there are two states West Virginia and Mississippi who do NOT allow any exemptions. I happen to be in WV and am considering moving because of this. They do have a so called Medical exemption which basically means nothing.... I would homeschool but I have a husband who believes in the school system for some reason... UGH... Please be aware that they do give vaccinations and whatnot sometimes without parents permission! I have read about it, so just be warned.

About animals, well... They unfortunately have no say in anything... It is so sad to think of all the garbage they are fed and shot up with because of money. Bottom line with anything it seems is money and how much the corporations can make... So sad....

Btw, did you get help for your son?

My 2 cents and best wishes!!!

Dear Kathy,In Texas, we have " PROVE " , which gives parents the right to choose not to vaccinate. If or when my boys enter public school, they will have to be registered with PROVE to have exemption status, and the school will retain a copy of my paperwork in their records. I don't know what state you are in, but maybe you can advocate a service such as PROVE. http://www.vaccineinfo.net/About a hospital birth - make sure your daughter has a birth plan. You can find sample birth plans online, and they will tell you what types of choices she can make in a hospital. Here are a few samples:

http://www.mjbovo.com/BirthPlan.htmhttp://www.childbirth.org/interactive/ibirthplan.html

http://www.itcs.com/elawley/baby/birthplan.htmlYou can usually delay the Vitamin K eye drops for better bonding time, but I'm not sure if the hospital will let you skip them. In lieu, Mom could take alfalfa capsules or tea during last trimester to ensure good clotting for herself and the baby. The Vitamin K will get to baby through the breastmilk. I just ran across these sites about the Vit. K. Interesting...

http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/vitktop.htmlhttp://www.icpa4kids.org/research/articles/birth/Vitamin_K_at_Birth.htm

Even more important than refusing the eye drops, be sure that she gets to " room in " with the baby 24/7, and do not let the baby leave her side, especially if she wants to breastfeed. She should feed " on demand " in order to ensure a good milk supply. Don't let them talk her into schedules... Frequent nipple stimulation (and a proper latch) from the baby is all she needs to produce plenty of milk. In a hospital setting, the mom needs a strong advocate because in that vulnerable state (before and after delivery), it's very hard to fight the doctor and nurses and their way of doing things. THEY are not delivering/nurturing the baby - SHE is. I had two homebirths because of my white-coat-anxiety. I wish everyone could experience the peace of a homebirth, but I guess its just not for everyone. But I hope her delivery works out in whatever way is best for her. Have her read up on attachment parenting if she hasn't already. http://www.attachmentparenting.org/info.shtmlHTH and Good Luck to DD,jillP.S. I hope that wasn't way too much info!
