Guest guest
Dear Doc and Friends, I started a 21 day cleanse, and on about day 17, my back started hurting severely. It is still hurting very bad (About 7 days later). I have always held tension in my shoulders and back, but I can honestly say it's never hurt like this before. It is directly along my spine, especially in the middle, and up in my neck shooting down my shoulders and even making my hands and fingers tingley and numb at times. It also hurts low, like in the kidney areas (I'm praying it's not still the kidneys themselves...). I can HEAR my neck and spine " SIZZLE " (For lack of better explaination) at night, or when everything is quiet, and at even the slightest movement I am cracking and popping along the way, ALL of which was never THIS bad before. I have no idea what is causing this... did I quit the cleanse too soon? Did I go too long? I have been doing stretches constantly through the day (Feels good when I stretch but goes right back to hurting as soon as I stop) and have been exercising moderately. I have also been taking salt baths. Nothing seems to be helping. It was tolerable at first, but now it is just interfering with life, and I have got to do something. I am now breaking my fast (Day 23)... and all went well! Made it to 21! Everything else is great... I am now smoke free (Kicked those nasty cigarettes for good! Been a month almost!) and have committed to a vegetarian diet and will do my best to avoid MSG as completely as I can (Since lord knows what it's listed under anymore!!!)... and when we move to the country next spring we will hopefully then be able to commit to ALL organic as well. The only problem still prominent is the back pain. It's causing a slow down in my work, and I REFUSE to take any pain supplements. I detoxed hard from those buggers, and am NEVER going that route again! I found a tea that has cat's claw (?) and some other blends, supposed to help with this sort of thing, but upon drinking it for 3 days, no change. I would wonderfully appreciate ANY suggestions! I know I need to start getting massages, and a chiropractor or even accupuncture could work wonders... but as of right now, my starving artist budget buys our food every week and that's about it, and in my area none of that is too mainstream, and therefore all of it is very pricey too. ANY suggestions would be so so greatly appreciated, as I NEED to be able to get back to work!!! I already took the last 3 weeks lightly because of the cleanse, and the financial side of life took a hit because of it as it is... Thank you so much in advance... I truly appreciate everyone! Guest guest
Dear Raaven, Could be your acid / alkaline balance out of whack, but I'm not familiar with your usual diet when you're not fasting. Sooooooooo, go back 3 weeks and give me a run down of what you normally would have eaten back then. pH can affect your bones, cartilage, and the Kidneys (and a lot more), so this is my number one suspect.
