Guest guest
We just found out that our four year old lab has heartworms. Her seven month old daughter does not. I think I know the answer before I ask, but...Can the older lab who has the heartworms be treated naturally?I remember hearing that heartworms and other parasites cannot survive in "healthy" blood (i.e. not toxic) in a dog. What can be done to keep the younger lab from getting heartworms - that is natural. My husband's been giving her the stuff the vet gave her for two months - and since she started taking it, she has not stoped scratching and biting herself. I'm working on adding more raw to her diet, but hubby insists on giving her pedigree kibble (yuccckkhhh). We try to eat healthy, why can't they?Feel free to email me off-list since this may be considered off-topic. Tammi U.
Guest guest
Yes they can be treated naturally. 1. Garlic in their food. Check out the Total Pet Nutrition in the Files. This has garlic powder and extra Nutritional Yeast in it. 2. Put Black Walnut Hull Tincture in their food. 3. Put Intestinal Cleanse Formula as in the Files in their food. You have to buy a better food for your dogs. I recommend Flint River Ranch Dog Food. Best I could find and you can do a Google search to find them, and order on line. My dog, Trixie, gets all the raw chicken necks when we have chicken and she also get the rest of the carcass (no leg or thigh bones) Hope this helps. Guest guest
I will vouch for Flint River Ranch--that's all we've ever fed our dogs and they LOVE it. Along with their biscuits and chicken/rice wafers. I also can say that since I started putting the Pet Essentials UDOs on their food, they have had wonderful digestion and a lot better overall health. Doc or anyone else, can you tell me where to find the Total Pet Nutrition in the files??? I have looked everywhere and cannot seem to find it. Our dog also had heartworms a few years ago before I got into herbs. I can say if you can treat them naturally then DO IT!!! Because what they have to put them through at the vet is awful for the dog and for the parents. Not to mention it really will burn a BIG hole in your pocket!!!!!!! Do what you can and I wish you and your dog the best--hopefully you won't have the awful ride we did. Marci > > Yes they can be treated naturally. > 1. Garlic in their food. Guest guest
Ooooooooooops! Now rectified and in there. ;-) Doc PS. Both my Dog and Cat get this every single day. My cat is 15 years old and you'd think she was still a kitten. She looks it and acts like one. ;-) Doc Shillington727-447-5282Doc - Marci herbal remedies Friday, June 30, 2006 6:44 PM Re: Herbal Remedies - OT: Heartworms in dogs I will vouch for Flint River Ranch--that's all we've ever fed our dogs and they LOVE it. Guest guest
I didn't know any better at the time and went the vet route...they gave her a series of shots and pills I believe it was and kept her for 2 days all the while there is a good chance that what they are giving them can kill them. They had said that the chances she wouldn't die were better than long ago on this regime but still not real good. She did end up being ok--she looked awful and cried all the time for weeks but ended up being ok with lots of love on our part. Oh and might I add that was about $1800 later if not more.
