Guest guest
As a child, my father would boil water, add a small bit of boric acid then wait for it to cool a bit. He would then have me lay on my back and lay a wash cloth wet with this solution over my eyes and nose. It worked. His theory was to get a little boric acid into the eyes BUT also the warm on the nose would open the tear ducts so the eye can flush themself out. I have also used this on pets with great results. Guest guest
On all these posts re: boric acid as an eye wash - no one has given the ratio of boric acid to the amount of water to use. I'd like to try this as I have boric acid but don't know what amounts to use. Thanks LynnLynn
Guest guest
I was told 1 tablespoon to 1 quart of water. Make sure you boil the water. Can someone else verify this please? herbal remedies [herbal remedies ]On Behalf Of lynn sheerThursday, June 22, 2006 9:10 AMherbal remedies Subject: Re: Herbal Remedies - Re: boric acid eye flush for & quot;pink eye & quot; On all these posts re: boric acid as an eye wash - no one has given the ratio of boric acid to the amount of water to use. Guest guest
I was a contact lense wearer for years. I could not use the commercial rinses and the eye dr had me use ONLY distilled water, and the boric acid. I used it for a saline rince, and the heat disinfecting unit, and as an eye soothing drops. I was miticulouse about keeping all things clean. I used 1 cup of distilled water boiled, and added 1/4 teas of boric acid let cool and put it in dropper squeeze bottles. when My daughter was dealing with pink eye in school, the dosage was 1/2 tablespoom to 1 cup and flush the eyes 3 times a day. it worked better then the ointment and salves. good luck
Guest guest
Using organic red raspberry tea as a wash has worked for me or even drinking it straight with no sweetner for pink eye if it just starting out. herbal remedies , " Debbie Beardshear " <dbeardshear wrote: > > I was told 1 tablespoon to 1 quart of water. Guest guest
From the quick search I did the ratio is about 1% Boric Acid to 99% Sterile)boiled) Water. I knew it was a minute amount of Boric Acid. But you can wash your eyes with just: Warm sterile water and a eye- cup or wash cloth. Alot to the healing action is due to Warm Water.-- - In herbal remedies , " Debbie Beardshear " <dbeardshear wrote: > > I was told 1 tablespoon to 1 quart of water. Make sure you boil the water. Guest guest
*this is an excellent suggestion; note: when making Herbal Washes and Rinses be sure to strain the Tea carefully or use Tea-Bags. Always promptly refrigerate steeped any Herbal or Regualar Tess. Note: It is best to store Steeped Teas in Plastic or Ceramic or Glass; do NOT store Teas in metal. Peppermint Tea is good for Skin.-- - In herbal remedies , " Tenna " <thakrown wrote: > > Using organic red raspberry tea as a wash has worked for me or even > drinking it straight with no sweetner for pink eye if it just > starting out. > > > herbal remedies , " Debbie Beardshear " > <dbeardshear@> wrote: > > > > I was told 1 tablespoon to 1 quart of water.
