Guest guest
________________________________ Linn Miller <linnmiller Niacin can lower insulin needs. The less insulin she needs, the better for her health. **************************I am a Type 2 diabetic and started taking Niacin to control cholesterol. I only took the supplements for 3 days and stopped after reading about the probability of Niacin contributing to skin pigmentation in the neck, upper thighs etc. For the first two days I took 250mg and increased to 500mg the third day. I only got a flush on the last day. I do not know whether the relationship between Niacin and skin pigmentation is well documented. Also at what doses can Niacin cause this skin problem? Guest guest
Diabetics should not use niacin because it messes with glucometer readings. Niacinamide is fine to use. I take 1 gram, 3 times a day. No flush niacin is bad for the liver if taken in large doses.
