OK, I spoke with the head chemist at the company who makes opti-MSM yesterday.

He's been a chemist for thirty years and possibly the foremost authority on MSM

in the world. I agree, sometimes you can do too much research but the bottom

line is he says it has done wonders for him, he sounded like a very nice guy,

it's made in America and I believe is probably the best source. You can order it

at msm-msm.com and it's not expensive. I ordered five pounds yesterday for about

fifty bucks I think. He said to take up to three tablespoons a day. He also said

that he thinks DMSO is good stuff to put on topically and Dr. Jacobs is a good

source for that. Use a 70% solution. He said the best source of glucosamine is

Regenasure by a company called Cargill, it's vegetarian and his wife that and

boswella with good results for what it's worth.

I buy the crystalline MSM and put a little in every beverage I take all day long

and I have no arthritis and I am 82. I credit MSM for this, I have a damaged

knee bone on bone and although it gives way now and then but still I have no

pain. I've done this for many years and I try to never miss taking it. I highly

recommend it.

Hi Dave:

Your price for bulk MSM was not that high. I have actually used

Opti-MSM in the past I would not think that the area of expertise

that we should be considering would be Chemistry. Since this is organic

chemistry, it can be daunting, but we really should be looking at

things out of your expert's area. Cargill would not be a source that

I would be excited about... any more than I would with any other large

corporation. Simply dropping that name would set me off a bit and make

me question him. His recommendation on dosage is about right, but

again, go slowly.

The man that turned me onto MSM was just a horse owner who started

selling it because he had found a cheap and reliable source. He would

sell you a rail car load if you needed it. However, he was extremely

knowledgeable about its effects on his horses... and his family. First

hand knowledge is hard to beat.

I have some trust in Swanson Vitamins as a source for things like

Glucosamine and Boswellia, but there surely are better places to buy

them if you are not shopping with cost in mind as you don't appear to

be. Again, as Alobar suggested with MSM, unless you have an aversion to

meat, I would not be concerned about getting my glucosamine from animal

sources.. Chicken cartilage should serve you quite well. Homemade soup

made from real stock is a great source of organic sulfur... which is

the point of all of this. Bowellia, an herb, does not apply. I have

had limited success with Boswellia, it seems, but when taking it with

MSM, the effects of MSM are so powerful that it is difficult to tell.

Duncan Crowe, whom a lot of us have learned to trust along these lines,

also has advocated DMSO... as do several others in the Beck'n'stuff

() group. I have no personal experience with it, but have read a

great deal about it.

Cheers,

Jim
